A case report of bilateral primary angiosarcoma treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy was presented. A routine diagnostic mammography and ultrasound examinations indicated abnormalities in both breasts of the patient, confirmed on MRI as large bilateral masses. Core needle biopsy revealed angiosarcoma G1. The treatment agreed during the interdisciplinary meeting involved chemotherapy combined with simultaneous blockade of beta-adrenergic receptors, followed by bilateral simple mastectomy. This case highlights the importance of a patient-focused care.

There is no systematic study available from our country regarding pulmonary function tests in patients of breast cancer who receive postoperative radiotherapy. Therefore, we planned a prospective study to find out the effect of radiation on pulmonary functions in patients with breast cancer; who had undergone surgery in the form of simple mastectomy and axillary clearance. Transient radiological changes were seen in two cases and one patient had fibrosis at 9 months.

A multidisciplinary approach to breast cancer control was developed through a network of 22 hospitals, and data were collected over two time periods to evaluate the impact of the network. A total of 1,800 cases of female breast cancer treated during the baseline period of 1971 to 1973 were compared with 2,102 current cases treated during the 1975 to 1977 study period. These cases were compared with regard to detection, diagnosis, and primary therapy. Opsoclonus-myoclonus is a rare neurological paraneoplastic syndrome associated with breast cancer and the presence of anti-Ri antibody. We presented a case of a 79-year-old woman with this syndrome and a small invasive ductal carcinoma [pT1aN0(sn)M0], whose symptoms improved 3 months following her simple mastectomy without any adjuvant therapy. Based on the 15 previously reported cases in the literature, there is no uniform treatment option available, and the response to such treatments is mixed.

Lymph node imprint cytology was performed on 86 nodes from 13 consecutive patients with breast cancer undergoing simple mastectomy with axillary node sampling, and a prospective comparison with paraffin section was made. The results showed a diagnostic sensitivity and specificity of 0.93 and 0.98 respectively. The predictive value of a positive result was 0.98. This technique can be used to identify patients with Stage I disease rapidly, thereby allowing their exclusion from treatment with peri-operative chemotherapy.

DESIGN: Prospective randomised clinical trial. Two thousand subjects needed for study to have a 90% chance of detecting a difference in survival rate of 7% with 95% significance. Patients were followed up until June 1988, giving follow up of 158-216 months.

At 18 months after surgery and post-operative radiotherapy, the function of the ipsilateral shoulder joint was assessed both subjectively and objectively in 141 patients with early stage breast cancer. Nipple discharge is one of the most common breast complaints in women. Galactorrhea (milky discharge) may occur during pregnancy or breast-feeding or as a result of drug therapy, hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism. Nonbloody discharge is most common and is usually benign. Bloody discharge should be considered a sign of cancer until proved otherwise. Persistent galactorrhea and nonbloody discharge can be treated by transecting the mammary ducts. Simple mastectomy may be appropriate in patients with persistent bloody discharge who have a strong family history of breast cancer.

Multiple, giant fibroadenomas are histologic and clinical variants of "juvenile" or "giant" fibroadenomas. These tumors are rare and occur mainly in adolescent and young adult black females. The individual lesions are well encapsulated with a histologic pattern primarily of the "juvenile" type, although cases of the "adult" type have been reported. This report describes a female of 54 years with a past history of repeated breast biopsies all showing benign epithelial hyperplasia. The patient subsequently had a simple mastectomy and axillary lymph node biopsy.
