PURPOSE: To describe a simple technique that uses posterior chandelier illumination during Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty in cases of severe bullous keratopathy (BK).
METHODS: Five eyes of 4 patients with advanced BK undergoing Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty were retrospectively analyzed. The pupil of the host eye was not treated with mydriatic or miotic agents. The chandelier illuminator was inserted transconjunctivally into the vitreous cavity from the pars plana.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to investigate whether long-term topical application of intraocular pressure (IOP) lowering medication has an effect on corneal biomechanical properties in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG).
METHODS: This study included 225 White European patients with POAG. Biomechanical measurements were performed using the Scheimpflug analyzer Corvis ST. Each patient underwent a detailed medical history, an ophthalmic examination, and a 24-hour IOP profile. Further examinations were performed using Heidelberg retinal tomography, endothelial cell microscopy, and Pentacam.

This real-world analysis was performed on administrative databases to evaluate characteristics, therapies, and related economic burden of glaucoma in Italy. Adults with at least 1 prescription for ophthalmic drops (ATC class S01E: antiglaucoma preparations, miotics) during data availability period (January 2010-June 2021) were screened, then patients with glaucoma were included. First date of ophthalmic drops prescription was the index date. Included patients had at least 12 months of data availability before index-date and afterwards. Overall, 18,161 glaucoma-treated patients were identified.

BACKGROUND: Angle closure secondary to pupil block is an entity known to occur in aphakic and pseudophakic patients. In aphakic patients, typically the cause of the pupil block is vitreous prolapse (aphakic pupil block). In pseudophakic patients, the typical cause of the pupil block is an anterior chamber lens implant, often in the absence of an iridectomy (pseudophakic pupil block). Rarely, a hybrid of these two conditions can occur, in which vitreous prolapse causes a pupil block in a pseudophakic patient with a posterior chamber lens implant.

A series of 85 patients with myopia, up to -6.00D, was treated by photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), using a 5 mm diameter ablation zone. At six months, 38 patients (45%) reported slight disturbances of night vision, nine (11%) of whom had significant problems. Nicotine produced a distinct reproducible syndrome in the conscious dog when injected intravenously or intracerebroventricularly. Intravenously administered nicotine (40 micrograms/kg/min for 20 minutes) increased cardiac and respiratory rates and produced analgesia, miosis, hypothermia, behavioral restlessness and emesis. Twenty persons with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) were followed for an average of one year in a prospective study after argon laser trabeculoplasty was performed in one eye. By one month the mean intraocular pressure (IOP) had fallen 39% and was associated with an 80% increase in mean facility of aqueous outflow.
