Beyond the dyad: negociating the working alliance in intercultural return-to-work rehabilitation.

PURPOSE: Research on the therapeutic alliance (TA) has largely focused on therapist-patient dyads, overlooking the complexity of multi-actor and intercultural contexts such as work rehabilitation. This study examines how the TA is constructed and negotiated within a multidisciplinary return-to-work program involving immigrant workers in Québec. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using a qualitative case study design, the study combines participant observation and semi-structured interviews with seven injured immigrant workers. RESULTS: Our findings suggest that the therapeutic alliance may be better und

Multiplanar and three-dimensional multi-detector row CT of thoracic vessels and airways in the pediatric population.

Multi-detector row computed tomography (CT) has changed the approach to imaging of thoracic anatomy and disease in the pediatric population. At the author's institution, multi-detector row CT with multiplanar and three-dimensional reconstruction has become an important examination in the evaluation of systemic and pulmonary vasculature and the tracheobronchial tree. In some clinical situations, multi-detector row CT with reformatted images is obviating conventional angiography, which is associated with higher radiation doses and longer sedation times. Although multi-detector row CT with multip

FAIRness at all costs? Practical limitations in applying the FAIR principles to plant genetic resources data.

Modern scientific infrastructure increasingly depends on standardized data governance frameworks, with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles now widely adopted across research domains. This study investigates how FAIR principles are implemented in plant genetic resources (PGR) information systems by assessing the European Search Catalogue for Plant Genetic Resources (EURISCO) against the Research Data Alliance (RDA) FAIR Data Maturity Model indicators. As a large, federated catalogue containing data on 2.1 million accessions from 43 countries, EURISCO provides a stron

Improving Risk Communication and Community Engagement for Public Health Emergencies in China: A State-guided Cooperative Trust Model.

Risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) constitutes a mandatory core capacity under the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005). However, dominant RCCE frameworks are rooted in Western institutional contexts and lack theoretical adaptation to China's state-led governance system. Drawing on an integrated multi-theoretical RCCE framework, this paper systematically examines the context-specific features and the limitations of China's present RCCE model in public health emergencies (PHEs). It identifies critical institutional, adaptive, and trust-related gaps by implementing literat

Automated AI-based Mayo Endoscopic Scoring for ulcerative colitis across adult and pediatric cohorts from diverse populations.

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic assessment in ulcerative colitis (UC) is critical for clinical decision-making but limited by interobserver variability. AI-powered systems may improve consistency, but dataset heterogeneity has hindered clinical translation. We developed and evaluated a deep learning framework for standardized Mayo Endoscopic Score (MES) prediction across adult and pediatric populations from diverse regions. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Using three multi-institutional datasets, we trained and validated convolutional neural network models to predict MES. The primary dataset (LIMUC; 564 adults,

[Advances in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic prostatitis].

So far the etiology of chronic prostatitis(CP), particularly chronic nonbacterial prostatitis(NBP) or chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS), remains to be elucidated. According to recent epidemiologic data, the prevalence of CP ranged from 2.5% to 16% of the world population, affecting men of all ages and all ethnic origins. Since 1990s researchers of many countries have carried out largerscaled, deeper and more extensive studies than ever before on the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of the disease, with the sponsorship and coordination of such international institutions as the International

Improving preventive locust management: insights from a multi-agent model.

BACKGROUND: Preventive management of locust plagues works in some cases but still fails frequently. The role of funding institution awareness was suggested as a potential facilitating factor for cyclic locust plagues. We designed a multi-agent system to represent the events of locust plague development and a management system with three levels: funding institution, national control unit and field teams. A sensitivity analysis identified the limits and improvements of the management system. RESULTS: The model generated cyclic locust plagues through a decrease in funding institution awareness.

Barriers to social participation among patients with hemophilia: a qualitative study using social-ecological systems theory.

BACKGROUND: Social participation greatly determines health-related quality of life, while people with hemophilia face severe social engagement restrictions. Current studies only explore such barriers from single dimensions including joint function, employment and mental distress, lacking a comprehensive social-ecological perspective. Based on social-ecological systems theory, this study systematically analyzes multi-level barriers to social participation among Chinese hemophilia patients to support integrated nursing intervention development. METHODS: A descriptive phenomenological qualitativ
