Multidimensional effects of virtual reality on motor dysfunction in patients who had a stroke: study protocol for a prospective, randomised, controlled clinical trial.

INTRODUCTION: Poststroke motor dysfunction places a heavy burden on individuals and society. Virtual reality (VR) offers enhanced motor skill transfer and active rehabilitation by overcoming the scenario-specific constraints of conventional therapies. Validating the efficacy of VR rehabilitation could lead to scalable and cost-effective solutions, potentially enabling home-based rehabilitation. However, the widespread clinical application remains constrained by the lack of rehabilitation-specific VR and multidimensional quantitative assessments. The aim of this study was to investigate the mul

Older adults' evaluations of smart home control screen designs: Appearance dimensions and behavioral intentions in a multi-stage study.

In age-friendly home environments, control screens provide a point of contact between users and smart home systems, and their appearance may shape initial evaluations of these systems. This exploratory study used a multi-stage design to investigate older adults' appearance evaluations and behavioral-intention patterns across different screen designs. Similarity judgments provided by 15 experts were examined using multidimensional scaling and cluster analysis, from which eight representative designs were selected from the original pool of 87 samples. Three independent groups of older adults too

Gender differences in the relationship between hostility and the type A behavior pattern.

A group of 97 male and 111 female undergraduates completed the Jenkins Activity Survey, the Framingham Type A Scale, the Adjective Checklist Type A Scale, the Spielberger State-Trait Anxiety Inventory, and the Buss-Durkee Hostility Inventory. A factor analysis revealed three dimensions: Anger-Emotionality, Anger-Aggression, and Residual Pattern A. All Type A measures loaded highly on the Type A factor, with the Jenkins Activity Survey loading the highest. The Framingham Type A Scale was related to Anger-Emotionality, the Adjective Checklist Type A Scale was related to Anger-Aggression, and the

Assessing rumination in response to illness: the development and validation of the Multidimensional Rumination in Illness Scale (MRIS).

The cognitive style of rumination extends existing cognitive models of emotional response to illness. In the absence of a specific measure, we developed the Multidimensional Rumination in Illness Scale (MRIS). In Study 1, an initial 60-item pool was tested, followed by confirmation of the factor structure in Study 2. In Study 1 participants (n = 185) completed the pilot version of the MRIS, then in Study 2 (n = 163) a reduced 41-item model was tested. Study 1: Exploratory factor analysis of a reduced 32-item scale indicated an initial four-factor solution for the MRIS (Intrusion, Brooding, Ins
