The AA. consider both anatomical and functional results with the "on-lay" procedure for closure of central tympanic perforations in 131 cases, treated at their Department in a 5 years term. They report the end conditions pointing out several parameters implicated as type and size of the perforation, anesthetic used, source of the graft and surgical approach. Finally they confront the anatomical and the functional results. The aim of the paper is to emphasize the value of the procedure followed in the attempt of re-stablishing the integrity of the ear drum.

Background/Objectives: The endoscopic repair of the tympanic membrane is an established method for addressing perforations in the tympanic membrane. However, there are limited studies in the literature examining the success rate of this procedure in the pediatric population. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed data from the tertiary referral center at the University Hospital of Verona, Italy. This medical record contains data from 84 type 1 transcanal endoscopic tympanoplasties performed in pediatric patients between November 2014 and February 2022. Seventy-seven pediatric patients ag

BACKGROUND: There is a gradual transition from open to minimal access surgeries in Otorhinolaryngology. Myringoplasty can be done with either microscope or endoscope. Use of both the techniques has been reported in literature. However, there is no clear consensus over which is better than the other. The current study was done with the aim of comparing the hearing outcomes post myringoplasty by endoscopic versus microscopic technique.
METHODS: Hundred patients of chronic otitis media mucosal inactive were recruited and divided into two groups, A and B. The patients in group A underwent endosco

Surgeons' dissatisfaction with the surgical treatment for tympanic membrane perforations results leads to the constant improvement of the surgical technique and the emergence of new techniques. Difficulties arise in the surgical treatment of rheumatological patients treated with immunosuppressive drugs due to the high potential risk of postoperative complications. The most promising direction in this cohort of patients can be considered the use of laser exposure techniques under endoscopic control. The experience of performing endoscopic laser myringoplasty in 9 children aged from 6 to 16 year

OBJECTIVES: Myringoplasty is a frequently performed procedure in children, with a heterogeneous failure rate. Our study aimed to evaluate the outcome of myringoplasty in a pediatric hospital and to identify which are risk factors for reperforation or poor hearing improvement after surgery.
METHODS: Preoperative and intraoperative variables between pediatric patients who had undergone myringoplasty with an intact tympanic membrane at follow-up and the cases with reperforation were compared. The same factors were investigated as potential predictors of audiological success. Pre and postoperativ

INTRODUCTION: Underlay technique myringoplasty is most commonly used technique to repair tympanic membrane perforation by temporalis fascia graft and Trans-tympanic pop-in technique is an another technique that allows temporalis fascia graft placement medial to tympanic membrane remnant through the perforation without the need for tympano-meatal flap elevation. This study was undertaken to find the prevalence of perforated graft in underlay and Pop-in Technique Myringoplasty.
METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study was done at Manipal teaching hospital, Pokhara, Nepal and comprises of

Epidermal cysts are benign tumors derived from the epidermis or the epithelial hair follicle filled with keratin and lipid-rich debris, typically occurring in areas with a high-density of sebaceous glands. These cysts commonly occur on the face, scalp, neck and trunk, where the sebaceous glands are more active. Their localization within the bone is extremely uncommon. The current study details the case of a 24-year-old male who presented with right otorrhea and ipsilateral hypoacusia having undergone right overlay myringoplasty for subtotal eardrum perforation. This patient represents a rare c

INTRODUCTION: Transcanal myringoplasty has the advantages of demanding lower operative time and minimal external incisions. It can be performed using the microscopic or endoscopic approach. In the last decade, the use of endoscopes in ear surgery has increased significantly. This technique may allow "around the corner" visualization of small recesses, through narrow spaces, without the aid of canalplasty in unfavorable ear canals.
OBJECTIVE: To describe a case series of transcanal endoscopic myringoplasty performed in a university service. The characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of

Anterior tympanic perforations are actually the most difficult to close and a number of different techniques exist. This article represents the author's surgical procedure for type I tympanoplasties (myringoplasties) for this kind of perforation using the tragal cartilage and the perichondrium after preparation (revival, cleaning) of the perforation edge with a laser. This technique does not use a skin incision of external auditory meatus, when this one is large.
