We studied whether the β1-adrenergic antagonist nebivolol would prevent ethanol-induced reactive oxygen species generation and lipoperoxidation in the rat renal cortex. Male Wistar rats were treated with ethanol (20% v/v) for 2 weeks. Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a progressive hepatic disease that can advance into hepatocellular fibrosis, cirrhosis, and carcinoma. AIMS: Tacrolimus is an effective immunosuppressant commonly used post-transplantation and in certain autoimmune diseases. However, its long-term administration is associated with renal fibrosis through transforming growth factor-beta/suppressor of mother against decapentaplegic (TGF-β/Smad) signaling that could be partly attributed to endothelial dysfunction alongside decreased nitric oxide (NO) release.
