Methods: The study utilized a cross-sectional correlational survey design. Pediatric oncology nurses working in direct patient care in the United States completed a demographics questionnaire,

[A prospective study on the behavior of pediatric intensive care unit nurses, concerning the care given to suicidal children].

Pediatric intensive care units use sophisticated medical technology and are staffed by deeply committed nurses who are subjected to significant psychological stress. This stress varies with the type of patient and influences the style and quality of care. With this respect, children and adolescents admitted after a suicidal attempt are considered catalysts. However, there have been no systematic studies of how pediatric intensive care nurses respond emotionally to their interactions with these patients. This epidemiological study conducted in five Parisian Teaching Hospital pediatric intensive

Nurses' experiences and perceived needs in managing chemotherapy-induced mucositis in pediatric oncology: A qualitative exploratory study toward developing an empowerment-based nursing model.

BACKGROUND: Chemotherapy-induced mucositis remains one of the most distressing complications in pediatric oncology, causing severe pain, malnutrition, and interruptions in treatment. Nurses play a pivotal role not only in clinical management but also in supporting and empowering parents, particularly mothers, as primary caregivers. However, little is known about nurses' lived experiences and their perceived needs in empowering parents to manage mucositis effectively. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore pediatric oncology nurses' experiences and perceived needs in managing mucositis and eng

Decent work perception and burnout in pediatric nurses: the mediating effect of basic psychological needs based on self-determination theory.

BACKGROUND: Grounded in self-determination theory, basic psychological needs are intrinsic factors that regulate employees' occupational mental health. This study aimed to explore the association between decent work perception and burnout among pediatric nurses and examine the mediating role of basic psychological needs. METHODS: This multicenter cross-sectional survey recruited 355 pediatric nurses from five tertiary hospitals across Sichuan Province. Validated self-report

Enhancing Pediatric Patient Safety by Evaluating the Effect of Targeted Education on Nurses' Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Fall Prevention.

Background Patient safety in pediatric care is a critical concern, as hospital environments pose unique risks for children, particularly falls. Despite advancements in healthcare, falls remain a common safety issue, emphasizing the need for effective preventive measures. Nurses play a vital role in reducing fall risks, but gaps in their knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) can hinder the success of these efforts. This study evaluates the impact of targeted education on enhancing nursing officers' KAP of fall prevention. Materials and methods A quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test des

Reimagining pediatric nursing sustainability: Exploring trauma-informed care and impostor syndrome as drivers of burnout.

BACKGROUND: Pediatric nurses carry heavy emotional and clinical demands that leave them vulnerable to burnout. Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) has helped ease burnout in the workplace, but psychological factors like Impostor Syndrome (IS) may weaken these benefits. Whether IS mediates the TIC-burnout link has not been well studied. AIM: To examine the mediating effect of impostor syndrome on the association of trauma-informed care with burnout in pediatric nurses. METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in six hospitals of Mansoura City, Egypt, between October 2024 and January

Nurse-Led Implementation of Evidence-Based Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Care in Pediatrics: A Qualitative Study.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral intravenous catheter (PIVC) complications persist in pediatric settings, creating an urgent need for systematic nurse-led practice change. OBJECTIVE: This study explored how nurses facilitated the implementation of an updated evidence-based PIVC insertion protocol through the lens of the integrated Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services (i-PARIHS) framework. METHODS: A qualitative descriptive design was used. Written reflective narratives from 9 nurses were analyzed using hybrid thematic analysis, deductively mapped to i-PARIHS constructs. RESU

Nursing care of a pediatric patient with anti-NMDAR encephalitis complicated by secondary epilepsy: A case report.

RATIONALE: Autoimmune encephalitis in children often presents with neuropsychiatric symptoms and seizures and may progress to secondary epilepsy with prolonged functional impairment. Immunotherapy is the principal disease-modifying treatment, whereas comprehensive nursing care supports safety, complication prevention, rehabilitation, and continuity of care. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 13-year-old girl presented with a 2-month history of intermittent dizziness and poor appetite, followed by abnormal behavior, mood disturbance, visual hallucinations, and seizures. DIAGNOSES: Based on characteristic ne

Assessment and Management of Pain and Fever in Pediatric Patients in the Emergency Setting: A Proposed Flowchart for the Triage Nurse.

Background: The nurse-initiated administration of medications, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen, at the time of triage may provide the opportunity to treat pediatric patients more quickly. We aimed to create practical flowcharts that can be used by all EDs with a specific focus on the nurse-initiated administration of medications to optimize the assessment and management of pain and fever in pediatric patients. Methods: Three regional expert meetings were held with a restricted working group composed of three chairmen and a wider working group composed of Directors of Pediatric EDs and Direct

A Qualitative Study Assessing Haitian Pediatric Nursing Educational Needs in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

After Port-au-Prince's 2010 earthquake, Hospital Bernard Mevs (HBM) developed a collaboration with international medical volunteers to provide clinical care and medical resources; that evolved to include medical education as local Haitian staffing developed. There has been limited coordination among volunteers and local providers about ways in which volunteers can best serve the hospital, and literature that addresses how to coordinate volunteer efforts to support the educational needs of the local nursing staff is scant. Our objectives were to complete an educational needs assessment of the m
