Forty-eight eyes enucleated after a perforating eye injury (PEI) in 1980-86 (15% of all PEIs) were examined. The time between injury and enucleation varied from 0 to 1145 days. The lens had been damaged or lost in all eyes and 94% had an uveal tract injury. In 83% the retina was detached, in 15% it was totally prolapsed in injury. This study is a review of 890 cases of eye enucleations performed over a period of 22 years. The major cause for enucleations was trauma, accounting for 39.7% of the eyes enucleated. Chronic inflammatory diseases accounted for 22.1%, glaucoma for 11.5% and tumours for 9.2% in this group. Retinal diseases were responsible for 5.5% of the eyes; vascular occlusion for 5%; and miscellaneous causes for the remaining 7%. PURPOSE: To describe the pattern of uveitis in patients seen at the uveitis clinic of the East Avenue Medical Center, Philippines.
METHODS: Clinical records of patients seen from January 2010 to June 2015 were reviewed. Data collected included demographics, clinical presentation, associated systemic disease, work-up, and diagnosis.

PURPOSE: To describe the clinical characteristics, presentation and response to treatment in posterior uveitis patients with bacillary layer detachment (BLD) seen on optical coherence tomography (OCT).
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective review of patients with posterior uveitis and SD-OCT scans consistent with BLD. Data collected included demographics, uveitic etiology, treatment and duration of follow-up. Outcome measures included macular volume, central subfoveal thickness and visual acuity.

A 9-year-old girl presented with sympathetic ophthalmitis associated with secondary glaucoma from cystic epithelial invasion of the anterior chamber. Treatment with immunosuppressants (Imuran) and corticoid therapy for eight months cured the uveitis, and surgical excision of the epithelial cyst was then undertaken. The problems related to therapy of penetrating wounds of the ocular globe are discussed.

Acoustic tumor surgery provided an ideal model in which to study possible contralateral hearing loss following a destructive surgical procedure on the inner ear.
