Successful Treatment Bilateral Panuveitis with Multiple Systemic Infection in HIV/AIDS Patient: A Case Report.

There is an increasing number of HIV/AIDS patients in Indonesia, starting from <0.1% in 2010 to 0.4% in 2012, which warrants awareness of ocular manifestation in HIV. This might appear in 70-100% of patients with HIV. A 47 years old man came to the infection and immunology clinic with blurry vision on both eyes. He had been treated before but there was no clinical improvement. Examination showed both eyes had vitreous haziness. Visual acuity was 1/60 in both eyes with appearance of flare and cells within +3. Uveitis workup showed positive results for HIV, HSV and syphilis. Patient was given 10

Seasonal Hyperacute Panuveitis from the highest reported altitude: co-occurrence with scleritis - an unusual presentation.

PURPOSE: Seasonal Hyperacute Panuveitis (SHAPU) is a severe, rapid-onset panuveitis primarily affecting children, often linked to the setae released in the air or by contact with female moths of the genus Gazalina (Lepidoptera, Notodontidae), or with their egg masses laid on various substrates. This study aims to report a rare case of SHAPU from the higher altitude of Nepal with an alpine climate, with concurrence of necrotising scleritis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of SHAPU at high elevation. CASE REPORT: A 27-year-trekker male from an alpine climatic region of ea

Stalagmite-like pre-retinal deposits in the optical coherence tomography of two vitrectomy patients with panuveitis.

Two patients with panuveitis are presented in whom, after undergoing a vitrectomy, the optical coherence tomography (OCT) revealed some unusual pre-retinal hyper-reflective deposits with the shape of stalagmites, distributed in a multifocal and perivascular pattern. Case 1: 51-year-old male with panuveitis in the right eye. After diagnostic-therapeutic vitrectomy, OCT showed pre-retinal stalagmite-like deposits. There was no clear aetiology, and the deposits persisted over the time. Case 2: 76-year-old woman with panuveitis in the right eye. After a surgery for cataract-vitrectomy and epiretin

Ponatinib Inducing a Panuveitis with Choroidal Effusions and Neurosensory Retinal Detachment in a Patient with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia.

CASE SUMMARY: We present the case of a 50 year old male patient being treated for chronic myeloid leukemia by the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, Ponatinib. After 3 months of treatment, he developed a sight-threatening granulomatous panuveitis in both eyes, with choroidal effusions and neurosensory retinal detachments. Except for a positive interferon-gamma release assay suggesting previous Tuberculosis exposure, all uveitis investigations were normal. Discontinuation of the suspected causative drug led to resolution of signs and a consequent improvement in visual acuity. CONCLUSION: Ponatinib use

Topical difluprednate for treatment of serous retinal detachment and panuveitis associated with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease.

Patients with bilateral serous retinal detachments and panuveitis related to Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease are commonly managed with oral corticosteroids, immunosuppressive agents, and/or intravitreal injections. We present the case of a 56-year-old Hispanic man with Harada disease whose bilateral serous retinal detachments and panuveitis were treated with topical corticosteroid difluprednate alone. Functional and anatomical recoveries were assessed by fluorescein angiograms and optical coherence tomography studies over a period of 9 months. The patient's serous retinal detachments resolved, an

[Panuveitis with oral and genital ulcer misdiagnosed as Behcet's disease: two cases report and literature review].

Here we reported two patients who presented with panuveitis and were transferred from ophthalmologists to rheumatologists, for both the patients had oral and genital ulcers. They were misdiagnosed with Behcet's disease at first glance. Two young males presented with acute uveitis with history of recurrent oral and genital ulcers. They initially presented with symptoms and signs resembling Behcet's disease and were treated with systemic steroids with suboptimal responses. Routine laboratory test revealed syphilis and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. After treatment of penicillin an

Successful treatment with adalimumab for severe multifocal choroiditis and panuveitis in presumed (early-onset) ocular sarcoidosis.

Early-onset sarcoidosis (EOS) and Blau syndrome are rare auto-inflammatory diseases characterized by a triad of skin rash, granulomatous uveitis, and symmetrical polyarthritis occurring in early childhood. In this paper, we describe a case report very interesting for the multidisciplinary management (pediatric rheumatologist and ophthalmologist), the challenging diagnosis and the difficult choice of the best treatment. We describe a case report of an 8-year old with recurrent episodes of acute uveitis that developed bilateral granulomatous panuveitis initially treated with topical and systemic
