Objective: The Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5) is a widely used scale to evaluate the dimensional constructs of two trait models proposed by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) and the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11). The present meta-analysis first aimed to examine the factor structure, reliability, and congruence coefficients of the Persian version of the PID-5 to assess both trait models. The second aim was to evaluate the factor structure and reliability of the Persian version of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5-Brief Form (PID-5-B

BACKGROUND: Conditioned pain modulation (CPM) is believed to play an important role in the development and exacerbation of chronic pain, because dysfunction of CPM is associated with a shift in balance between pain facilitation and pain inhibition. In many patients with central sensitization, CPM is less efficacious. Besides that, efficacy of CPM is highly variable in healthy people. Consequently, it seems that several individual variables may influence CPM. A systematic review examining personal factors influencing CPM was conducted.
METHODS: This systematic review follows the PRISMA guideli

The 100-item short form of the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 (PID-5-SF) has been translated into various languages and validated across cultures and age groups, but research on adolescents is limited. This study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Turkish version (PID-5-SF-TR) in a sample of 349 adolescents (181 community, 168 clinical). Participants also completed the Personality Belief Questionnaire-Short Form (PBQ-SF) and the Big Five Inventory (BFI). Clinical participants had higher facet scores than community participants. Exploratory factor analysis revealed a five-factor stru

OBJECTIVE: To identify distinct subtypes of obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) among college students using latent profile analysis (LPA), and to examine the independent associations of demographic characteristics and dimensions of the Big Five Personality Inventory with these OCS subtypes. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 1,107 college students at a university in Zhengzhou City. The survey utilized the Questionnaire Star platform, employing the Big Five Inventory-10 (BFI-10) and the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS). LPA was employed to identify potential sub

In this paper, we aimed at developing and validating a novel instrument to evaluate personality in 10-14 years old adolescents with six basic traits, with two dedicated studies. In Study 1, we generated a large pool of items (384 items) from three basic items sources, which we administered to 714 Italian adolescents. Using principal component analysis (PCA) and extension factor analysis, we selected the best eight items for each facet, and so the best 32 items for each factor, except for the Unconventionality facet of Openness to Experience (O) for which we selected the best six items. In a previous study, it was reported that the typically replicable factor structure of the Personality Inventory for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (PID-5) was noninvariant across samples of Black American and White American university students. The investigators of that study attributed this noninvariance across these two racial groups to Black American racialization, defined as Black individuals living in a predominantly non-Black society. In the current investigation, we examined further the effects of Black racialization by examining PID-5 factor struc

The Personality Inventory for the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), Fifth Edition (PID-5) was developed as a measure of the traits included in the alternative model of personality disorders (AMPD) in Section III of the DSM. The PID-5 is composed of 25 scales measuring each trait in the AMPD across five domains: negative affectivity, detachment, disinhibition, antagonism, and psychoticism. Previous research suggests that there may be important differences in the expression of personality pathology across race and culture, particularly between people with eastern and w

BACKGROUND: The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-3 (MMPI-3) is a commonly used psychological test that includes several scales relevant to measuring manic and depressive symptoms of bipolar spectrum disorders.
AIMS: The goal of the present study was to evaluate the construct validity of MMPI-3 scale scores with respect to self-report measures of bipolar psychopathology.
MATERIALS & METHODS: Using a sample of 644 university students in New Zealand, we calculated correlations between scores on the MMPI-3 and the Hypomanic Personality Scale-Short Form (HPS-SF) total and factor scores

A lack of empathy, interpersonal dominance, aggression and the exploitation of others are the key features of both narcissism and psychopathic disorders. With the aim to better capture the shared facets of these traits, this study developed a new tool named the Capability to Influence Others (CIO) Inventory, which is based on the pleasantness evaluation of ten items-verbs presented in the infinitive form. The inventory, characterized by very quick submission, was administered to 67 males and 100 females and was correlated with the concurrent Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) and Levenso

BACKGROUND: Depressive personality is commonly seen in clinical practice, and today only one exclusive self-report instrument-the Depressive Personality Disorder Inventory (DPDI)-is available for its assessment based on the DSM-IV description of the construct.
AIMS: The purpose of this research was to evaluate a Swedish version of this measure (DPDI-Swe) in terms of its reliability, internal structure, and convergent validity using related variables from the DSM-IV criteria for depressive personality disorder (DPD) and the proposed DPD trait set for DSM-5.
METHODS: A non-clinical sample of 2

Although the construct of psychopathy is frequently construed as a unitary syndrome, the Psychopathic Personality Inventory (PPI; Lilienfeld & Andrews, 1996) and its revision, the PPI-R (Lilienfeld & Widows, 2005), are composed of 2 scales, termed Fearless Dominance (FD) and Self-Centered Impulsivity (SCI), which appear to reflect orthogonal dimensions. In this study, we examined the construct validity of the FD and SCI scales of the PPI-R as markers of these constructs with a range of theoretically relevant correlates assessed across multiple domains in a sample of 200 forensic psychiatric in

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationships between personality and behavioral responses in patients with acute myocardial infarction. In a first step, a new instrument (PSY Inventory) for assessment of six behavioral characteristics (Sense of Responsibility, Energy and Competitiveness, Obsessive Behavior, Anger and Hostility, Stress-related Disturbances, Time Urgency) was developed by using factor analysis on intercorrelations of responses from 524 subjects of the general population. Internal consistency reliability for each of the PSY subscales was estimated by Cronbach alpha

This study evaluated the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 Brief Form (PID-5-BF) as a screening tool for personality disorder (PD) in adolescents. Data from clinical (n = 127) and community (n = 139) samples of adolescents aged 12 to 17 were analyzed. Exploratory structural equation modeling supported the five-factor structure, with good to excellent internal consistency. Nomological validity was demonstrated through correlations with other measures of personality and psychopathology. All PID-5-BF domains, except antagonism, differed significantly between adolescents with borderline PD (BPD), no

Prior studies used exploratory bifactor analyses to examine the structure of the Neuroticism scale from the Short-scale Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised (EPQ-RS). These studies revealed a general factor and two group factors-Anxious-Tense and Worried-Vulnerable. These factors were related to poorer mental health, but their associations with physical health differed, as did their genetic and neurobiological underpinnings. A later study found that their associations with the Big Five Inventory-2 Short Form's factors and facets differed. We reanalyzed data on 1,006 Spanish students who c

BACKGROUND: Substance use disorder (SUD) and its related problems take a toll on the individual, family, and society. This study was conducted to determine the psychometric properties of the self-stigma scale in the families of persons who use drugs (PWUDs) in Iran.
METHODS: This was a methodological and psychometric study. The study population consisted of 311 family members of PWUDs visiting outpatient and inpatient addiction treatment centers in Kermanshah who were selected using convenience sampling. The 14-item Self-Stigma Inventory for Families (SSI-F), which was developed by Yildiz et

The current manuscript presents the convergence of the Dimensional Assessment of Personality Pathology (DAPP-BQ), using its short form the DAPP-90, and the Five-Factor Personality Inventory for International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), the FFiCD, in the context of the five-factor personality model and the categorical approach of personality disorders (PDs). The current manuscript compares the predictive validity of both the FFiCD and the DAPP-90 regarding personality disorder scales and clusters. Results demonstrate a very high and meaningful convergence between the DAPP-90 and the FF

BACKGROUND: The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-2 Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) has been widely used in bariatric surgery samples. However, questions remain regarding its utility when predicting changes in body mass index over time following bariatric surgery.
OBJECTIVES: Examine whether MMPI-2-RF scales differentially predict 12-month changes in body mass index (BMI) following bariatric surgery when comparing patients with Class III or higher versus Class II or lower obesity.
SETTING: Military hospital in the Northwestern United States.
METHODS: This retrospective study evaluat

Research is mixed on the role of service era in symptom endorsement among Veterans, with differences emerging depending on the instrument evaluated. This study compares Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) scale scores of VA test-takers who served during the Vietnam, Desert Storm, or Post-9/11 service eras. The sample was collected at a VA Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team. Associations between gender and combat exposure were also examined as covariates. Results suggest that Veterans' self-report on the PAI is influenced by service era, even after accounting for gender and combat e

This study examined preexisting Rorschach (Exner, 2001) and Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory-A (MMPI-A; Butcher et al., 1992) profiles to determine if selected MMPI-A scales and Rorschach variables would jointly associate with the number and severity of maltreatment subtypes (physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, and emotional maltreatment) of 157 adolescents (ages 14-17) with documented maltreatment histories. The Maltreatment Classification System was used to systematically code the maltreatment attributes. Six Rorschach variables (MOR, PER, Afr, SumY, SumC', Human Content) were

The International Classification of Diseases, 11th edition (ICD-11) adopted a fully dimensional model of personality disorder. The Personality Inventory for ICD-11 (PiCD) and Informant-Personality Inventory for ICD-11 (IPiC) were developed to assess the ICD-11 trait model, and the PiCD has since received significant validation support. However, there has only been one prior study of longitudinal predictive validity of the PiCD, two relatively short test-retest reliability studies of the PiCD, and no prior longitudinal tests of the IPiC. Longitudinal psychometric support for psychological asses
