Lafora Disease (LD) is a rare, fatal, late-onset, progressive form of myoclonic epilepsy, occurring in humans and dogs. Clinical manifestations of LD usually include seizures, spontaneous and reflex myoclonus with contractions of the neck and limb muscles. We studied the electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns of two beagles in whom LD was subsequently confirmed by genetic testing. PURPOSE: To describe the characteristics of patients with typical absence seizures (TASs), consistently triggered by photosensitivity.

Research on serial dependence has revealed significant attractive biases toward previous stimuli, suggesting that integrating information from both past and present stimuli is beneficial when representing information about the environment. The vestibular system is responsible for sensing every angular and linear head acceleration, mainly during periods of motor activity. Previous animal and human experiments have shown biological rhythm disruptions in small rodents exposed to a hypergravity environment, but also in patients with bilateral vestibular loss compared to a control population. This raised the hypothesis of the vestibular afferent influence on circadian rhythm synchronization. Photoparoxysmal response (PPR), often observed in epilepsy, is an abnormal cortical response to photic stimulation manifesting as specific EEG changes. It is a highly heritable EEG trait.
