OBJECTIVES: To introduce the method and experience of three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis for treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED).
METHODS: Both AMS700CX/CXM and MENTOR ALPHA I three-piece inflatable prosthesis were used for 48 cases of ED.
RESULTS: There were no rejection, mechanical problems, urethral injury and penile skin necrosis after surgery. All patients had satisfaction of sexual life. Only one case had trauma of tunica albuginea (2.08%) and the implantation had to be cancelled. There were 2 cases of post-operative infection (4.17%), 10 cases of prepuce edema(20.8%), 8 cases

INTRODUCTION: Kniest dysplasia is associated with short body stature (dwarfism) and impairment of the musculoskeletal system due to a mutation in the COL2A1 gene coding for a protein that forms type II collagen. Hip endoprosthesis for patients with Kniest system requires a specific femoral shaft design since the medullar space is limited due to the underlying dysplasia. The Wagner cone stem has shown excellent results. It is especially suitable for patients with small or dysplasic femur. However, no data exist regarding hip endoprosthesis in a patient with Kniest syndrome.

An 82-year-old woman had a history of mitral valve replacement with a 25-mm MOSAIC (Medtronic, USA) for severe mitral regurgitation (MR) 8 years previously. Recently, she developed heart failure due to MR secondary to prosthetic valve failure. She underwent transcatheter valve-in-valve implantation with a 23-mm SAPIEN XT (Edwards Lifesciences, USA) to the prosthetic mitral valve by transapical approach. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of transcatheter valve implantation for failed mitral prosthetic valve using valve-in-valve technique in Japan.

Transcatheter aortic valve implantation is increasingly used to treat bioprosthetic degeneration. Valve-in-valve technique has been performed successfully to treat homograft, stentless, and stented bioprosthetic dysfunction. The presence of a prosthesis in the mitral position can make the transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedure challenging due to proximity of the mitral and aortic annuli. We describe the case of a 66-year-old who underwent the first successful implantation of Edwards Sapien device in a failing homograft in the presence of a mechanical mitral valve prosthesis.

A female white-naped crane (Grus vipio) was presented with an open, oblique fracture of the distal right tarsometatarsus and concomitant vascular and nerve damage. OBJECTIVE: • To report our experience in the management of residual curvature after implantation of a penile prosthesis in men with Peyronie's disease (PD).

PURPOSE: Does the ReFlexion Implant System provide an alternative in operative treatment of hallux rigidus?
METHODS: We have been using the non-constrained prosthesis since April 1997. 26 implants were reviewed 13-41 months after insertion, analysing radiological and clinical data. A questionnaire was answered by the patients.
