A patient with shortness of breath had a high probability lung scan for pulmonary embolism, but no obvious embolic source. Lymph node status is still the single most important prognostic factor in breast cancer. Axillary surgery remains the only reliable means of providing this information. This pilot study evaluates using a highly specific radiolabelled monoclonal antibody to provide equivalent information by a non-invasive technique. A retrospective study was carried out to determine the diagnostic value of OncoScint CR/OV immunoscintigraphy in assessing patients with suspected recurrence of carcinoma of the colon and ovary. The scintigraphic results of 31 patients were compared with surgical and histopathological findings, conventional radiological examinations and clinical disease outcome over an average 3-year follow-up. BACKGROUND: An adjunctive noninvasive test that is predictable and highly specific for breast carcinoma would complement the high false-positive rate of mammography in certain patients.
METHODS: This prospective, multicenter study evaluated the accuracy, safety, and immunogenicity of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) antibody imaging in women with known or suspected breast carcinoma. UNLABELLED: The performance of 99mTc Stealth liposomes was investigated in various rat models.
METHODS: Preformed polyethyleneglycol-containing liposomes with encapsulated reduced glutathione, were radiolabeled using the lipophilic 99mTc-HMPAO. The labeled liposomes were intravenously administered to rats with focal S. aureus or E. coli infection, or turpentine-induced inflammation. For comparison, Tc-99m-nanocolloid- and 99mTc-labeled nonspecific IgG were tested. In rats with Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP), Tc-99m-liposomes were directly compared to In-111 labeled nonspecific IgG.

Introduction of monoclonal antibodies (immunoscintigraphy) has significantly extended the diagnostic spectrum of nuclear medicine in oncology. The detection rate of this new method in patients bearing squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck is better compared to computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. In a prospective study, we examined whether immunoscintigraphy in addition to other imaging procedures is able to provide additional diagnostic information for radiation treatment planning.
