Microsurgical Education in Reproductive Urology: A Review of Current Techniques and Opportunities for Improved Access to Learning Experiences.

Infertility is a common problem. Despite this, a dearth of urologists are trained in infertility care. Improved training opportunities may improve proficiency and interest in subspecialized training. We present a narrative review of current and proposed techniques in microsurgical education, with noted methods from other specialties. Opportunities for quality improvement include technological advancements, dedicated training laboratories, and artificial and animal models. Ample opportunity exists for improvement and standardization of microsurgical skills training, institutionally and national

Ensemble machine learning models for sperm quality evaluation concerning success rate of clinical pregnancy in assisted reproductive techniques.

This study aimed to investigate the influence of various sperm quality characteristics, including morphology, motility, and count, on the success rates of clinical pregnancy achieved through assisted reproductive technologies (ART) such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and intrauterine insemination (IUI). The secondary objective was to assess the impact of these sperm parameters on the clinical pregnancy rate that resulted in the detection of a fetal heartbeat during the 11th week of gestation, a crucial milestone in successful ART-derived pregnancies.

Exposure to multiple toxic metals and the risk of early embryonic arrest among women undergoing assisted reproductive techniques.

BACKGROUND: Early embryonic arrest is a great challenge for in vitro fertilization. Whether exposure to toxic metals is associated with an increased risk of early embryonic arrest warrants investigation. OBJECTIVES: Here, we conducted a case-control study in infertile women to estimate the associations between blood barium (Ba), arsenic (As), mercury (Hg), and lead (Pb) exposure levels and the risk of early embryonic arrest. METHODS: Ba, As, Hg, and Pb exposure levels in fasting blood collected from 74 infertile women (123 cycles) with early embryonic arrest and 157 infertile women (180 cycl

Should genetic health care providers attempt to influence reproductive outcome using directive counseling techniques? A public health prospective.

Many areas of agreement exist among genetic health care (GHC) professionals (i.e., MD and PhD clinical geneticists, master's level genetic counselors, and others) and public health (PH) professionals. However, there are in our opinion at least two areas or tenets where a distinct difference of opinion exists. Two tenets widely expressed by prenatal GHC professionals are: (1) they should never attempt to influence the outcome of a pregnancy, and (2) they should only use non-directive genetic counseling techniques. From a PH perspective, these tenets could be viewed in some instances as counterp

The role of veterinarians, biologists and animal experiments in the development of assisted reproductive techniques used in humans.

Assisted reproduction (AR) is a rapidly developing clinical area both in human and animal reproductive medicine. The assisted reproductive techniques (ART) used in human and animal AR are very similar and, in many cases, identical. Therefore, the laboratory/clinical assisted reproductive experiments with animals and their gametes/embryos are very useful for the development of procedures used in human AR. The purpose of the application of ARTs is basically the same in human and veterinary medicine, i.e. to promote and support reproduction. However, there is a marked difference between them in t
