INTRODUCTION: Silver-modified atraumatic restorative therapy (SMART) is the silver diamine fluoride (SDF) treatment followed by glass ionomer cement (GIC) restoration to help arrest the progression of the caries without requiring local anesthesia and cavity preparation. There is no comparison in the literature regarding the microleakage and potential of secondary caries with the aforementioned approach. Also, recently, a new formulation of SDF, that is, SDF gel, is available in the market, which could be a better material due to its ease of application and control over area of application.

BACKGROUND: Indirect pulp therapy (IPT) is a conservative treatment approach that leaves the deepest caries adjacent to the pulp undisturbed in an effort to avoid pulp exposure. The result of IPT is primarily dependent on the biocompatibility, sealing capacity, adaptability of the overlying restoration to underlying dentin, and strength of the liner material utilized.
AIM: To evaluate shear bond strength (SBS) and microleakage of mineral trioxide aggregate (e-MTA) and biodentine when restored with glass ionomer cement (GIC) and composite resin after their initial set time.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM: Dental cements for cement-retained restorations are often chosen based on clinician preference for the product's material properties, mixing process, delivery mechanism, or viscosity. The composition of dental cement may play a significant role in the proliferation or inhibition of different bacterial strains associated with peri-implant disease, and the effect of dental cements on host cellular proliferation may provide further insight into appropriate cement material selection.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the cellular host response of

This article evaluates the mechanical performance of truly universal resin cements, which promise broad substrate compatibility, simplified self-adhesive dual-cure mechanisms, and functional monomers. It addresses the inconsistent classification of market materials labelled as 'universal' and the lack of clear guidelines. Flexural strength (FS), diametral tensile strength (DTS), and Vickers hardness (HV) of ten resin cements were evaluated: five classified as truly universal (RelyX Universal, Calibra Universal+, Nexus Universal, Panavia SA, SoloCem) and five conventional (Panavia V5, RelyX U20

This in vitro study evaluated the influence of alveolar bone level and type of cement on pull-out bond strength between different fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) posts and root dentin. Sixty bovine teeth were sectioned, and their root canals were prepared. The specimens were divided into 6 groups (n = 10) according to 2 factors: alveolar bone level and type of cement. Each root was embedded in acrylic resin to the depth of 7, 10, or 14 mm, simulating different alveolar bone levels. After the FRC posts were treated with 37% phosphoric acid and silane was applied, they were cemented with either

Historically, cast gold occlusal surfaces for complete or removable partial dentures have been fabricated with retentive loops or beads and luted to prepared denture teeth with acrylic resin or attached to tooth-colored, heat-processed acrylic resin. At present, alternatives to mechanical retention for attaching resin to metal include chemical bonding of the resin after placement of intermediate ceramic or tin layers and the use of chemically adhesive resin cements. Compared to mechanical retention, the chemical bonding of resin to metal requires less gold and allows more room for properly con
