Primary intradural extramedullary Ewing sarcoma (PIEES) is a very rare and aggressive tumor with poorly recognized radiologic features. In this case series, we present our institutional experience with PIEES with emphasis on imaging and temporal evolution of the disease. In total, 8 patients with pathologic diagnosis of PIEES were included in this study. All patients were symptomatic at time of presentation. MRI findings demonstrated T1 isointense, T2 slightly hyperintense, and homogeneously enhancing lesion in all cases with spinal cord edema/cord compression or cauda equina nerve root compre

Primary Ewing sarcoma of the kidney (ESK) is a rare and aggressive malignancy often misdiagnosed as renal cell carcinoma (RCC) due to non-specific radiological features. Accurate diagnosis requires histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and molecular studies. We report the case of a female in her 20s presenting with abdominal pain, haematuria and weight loss, initially diagnosed with RCC. Imaging revealed a large renal mass and pulmonary embolus. Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) was performed, and biopsy of the pulmonary thrombus confirmed metastatic ESK through IHC and next-generation sequencing,

INTRODUCTION: Ewing sarcoma is an aggressive tumor characterized by small round cells and diffuse CD99 positivity seen mainly in Caucasian childhood and adolescent demographics. Ewing sarcoma of spinal origin accounts for approximately 3-9 % of cases most of these cases affecting the sacrum, therefore lumbar lesions are considered quite rare.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of lumbar Ewing sarcoma in a 6-year-old female who presented with back pain and neurological symptoms of spinal compression such as lower limb weakness, constipation, and urinary retention. MRI imaging confirmed the presence

Ewing sarcoma is an exceedingly rare form of cancer that affects the cervix. It falls within the spectrum of neoplastic diseases known as Ewing's family of tumours, typically observed in osseous tissues. A woman in her 40s, experiencing symptoms of leucorrhoea and transvaginal bleeding that commenced 3 months before her consultation, was referred to our gynaecological oncology clinic with a preliminary diagnosis of ovarian teratoma. A colposcopy procedure was conducted unveiling a complete loss of cervical anatomy with friable and malodorous tissue. Pelvic ultrasound identified a lesion of unc

Ewing's sarcoma (EWS) is a rare malignant bone tumor that primarily affects children and young adults. While it typically affects long bones, it can occur in the head and neck region, including the paranasal sinuses in rare cases. We present a challenging case of a 45-year-old female diagnosed with an EWS of the sphenoidal and the right nasal fossa. A subtotal removal of the mass was performed on the patient followed by combined adjuvant radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Due to its rarity, the diagnosis and management of EWS in the paranasal sinuses are challenging.

BACKGROUND: Ewing's Sarcoma (ES) is the second most common type of bone cancer, with an annual incidence of 2.9:100,000. Extraosseous cases represent 15%; however, there are no reported cases of ES located in the intestine in the pediatric population.
CASE REPORT: We describe the case of a 14-year-old male patient, previously healthy, who started with an anemic syndrome, weight loss, and diaphoresis of 8 weeks of evolution. After visiting a physician, who documented the presence of anemia, the patient was referred to the National Institute of Pediatrics. Physical examination showed grade III-

The clinical efficacy and outcomes of pazopanib treatment for metastatic extraosseous Ewing sarcoma remain unclear. We herein report a case of heavily pre-treated metastatic extraosseous Ewing sarcoma in which pazopanib treatment achieved a significant improvement. A 17-year-old girl was referred to our hospital due to metastatic extraosseous Ewing sarcoma. The initial cytotoxic chemotherapy was temporarily effective, however, her disease eventually progressed, and she was subsequently treated with pazopanib. The recurrent tumor showed a marked response to pazopanib therapy; the therapeutic ef

Primary Ewing sarcoma or primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the adrenal gland is extremely rare. We report a case of Ewing sarcoma or PNET of the adrenal in a 48-year-old Chinese woman. The patient was hospitalized with left upper quadrant abdominal pain and swelling that had been present for 1 year. Computed tomography (CT) images revealed a circumscribed mass in the left adrenal region measuring 12 cm in its greatest dimension, and the mass was surgically resected. Macroscopically, the mass (13 × 10 × 8 cm3 ) in the left adrenal gland was encapsulated, soft, appearing grayish white an

Ewing sarcoma, an osteolytic malignancy that mainly affects children and young adults, is characterized by early metastasis to lung and bone. In this study, we identified the pro-metastatic gene DKK2 as a highly overexpressed gene in Ewing sarcoma compared with corresponding normal tissues. Using RNA interference, we showed that DKK2 was critical for malignant cell outgrowth in vitro and in an orthotopic xenograft mouse model in vivo. Analysis of invasion potential in both settings revealed a strong correlation of DKK2 expression to Ewing sarcoma invasiveness that may be mediated by the DKK ef

Acquired von Willebrand syndrome is a rare bleeding disorder with clinical and laboratory features closely resembling to hereditary von Willebrand disease. The syndrome may accompany various conditions, including malignant disorders, most often with Wilms tumor and adrenal cell carcinoma. In this report, the authors present a patient with AvWS in association with Ewing sarcoma for the first time in the literature. The abnormal bleeding tendency was successfully treated with fresh frozen plasma and did not recur after the first two courses of chemotherapy with clinical improvement.

Very recently a new designation of "Malignant Neuroectodermal Gastrointestinal Tumor" has been proposed for an aggressive form of neuroectodermal tumor with features similar to that of Clear Cell Sarcoma of Soft Tissue, however without a melanocytic differentiation. Also known as "clear cell sarcoma-like tumors of the gastrointestinal tract", these tumors show some features strongly suggesting an origin from a gastrointestinal neuroectodermal precursor cell unable to differentiate along the melanocytic lineage. They occur mainly in young and middle-aged adults, and have a poor prognosis with a

Chromatin immunoprecipitation followed by sequencing (ChIP-seq) is a widely used technique to study the distribution of transcription factors, histones, posttranslational modifications, or other DNA-associated proteins across the genome. This methodology is based on the isolation of DNA fragments bound by the protein of interest using specific antibodies. Computational analysis of sequencing libraries derived from the isolated DNA fragments will delineate genome-wide maps of protein-DNA interactions. ChIP-seq profiling of EWSR1::FLI1 oncogene has enormously contributed to the understanding of

Molecular testing for pathognomonic gene fusions is mandatory for the diagnosis of small round cell tumors. In particular, in Ewing sarcoma, the identification of specific chimeric fusion genes is critical to distinguish it from other histologically similar subtypes. As the clinical relevance of gene fusion detection continues to grow, many laboratories have adopted targeted next-generation sequencing approaches to overcome the limitations of conventional singleplex assays. We were among the early adopters of targeted RNA sequencing using anchored multiplex PCR, a technique that enables the si

Extraosseous Ewing sarcoma (ES) is a rare malignant tumor with poor prognosis. ES of pancreatic origin is exceedingly rare, with only a few dozen cases documented in the literature. It is a poorly differentiated, aggressive tumor characterized by multiple recurrences and a relatively poor prognosis. Owing to nonspecific imaging findings, it can easily be misdiagnosed as other tumors. Here, we report a case of primary pancreatic ES with direct gastric invasion in a 63-year-old male who presented with melena and summarize previously reported cases of primary pancreatic ES. Radiologists should be

BACKGROUNDS: Ewing Sarcoma (ES) is an aggressive pediatric bone tumor requiring multimodal treatment. Primary renal ES is extremely rare and often presents with nonspecific symptoms, potentially delaying diagnosis. Imaging aids detection, while histopathological and molecular analyses confirm the diagnosis.
CASE DESCRIPTION: We report on a 31-year-old female who was initially treated for pyelonephritis. As computerized tomography suggested a malignant kidney tumor with an extensive inferior vena cava thrombus, nephrectomy and caval ligation were performed. Histopathology and further staging c
