Enzymatically isolated, noncultured Müller glial cells from human organ donor and patient eyes were studied using the whole-cell-voltage-clamp and the patch-clamp technique. The patients suffered mainly from choroidal melanomas, retinal detachment due to proliferative vitreorentinopathy, glaucomas, and perforating eye injuries. A retinoblastoma-like tumour has been established and characterized in terms of growth rates in vitro and in vivo, and by histopathology and chromosome analysis. Injected tumour cells grew regularly in the vitreous body with a blood supply from the retinal vessels. The tumour tissue was histopathologically similar to that of anaplastic human retinoblastomas. Almost all the cells had a triploid chromosome number and the DNA amount in tumours was stable, suggesting a stable tumour system without drift against more anaplastic degrees. Tumour cells plated in culture flasks were grown in colonies.

PURPOSE: Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) is a non-invasive technique for cellular in vivo imaging of the human cornea. CLSM screening was evaluated for early detection of corneal nerve morphology changes and neuropathogenic events in different stage multiple myeloma (MM) patients. PURPOSE: To report the incidence, clinical features, microbiologic profile, and risk indicators in the development of microbial keratitis in Thyroid Eye Disease (TED).
METHODS: All patients who were diagnosed to have TED and developed microbial keratitis between the years 2009 to 2017 at the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery service, LV Prasad Eye Institute were included in this retrospective interventional study. The clinical features, microbiological profile, and treatment outcome of the infection were studied. Possible risk factors leading to the development of microbial keratitis were studied.
