Biological evaluation and molecular docking studies of novel aza-acyclic nucleosides as putative antimicrobial, anticancer, and antioxidant agents.

This study aimed to synthesize new aza-acyclic nucleosides (aza-acyclovir) and evaluate the efficacy of these synthetic compounds as potential antimicrobial, anticancer, and antioxidant agents. We prepared two novel aza-acyclic nucleosides via two reactions. The first reaction involved trichloroisocyanuric acid and dibenzosulphonyl diethylamine, and the second reaction involved trichloroisocyanuric acid and diethanolamine. We then used one-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry to determine the s

Extended-spectrum β-lactamase production and antimicrobial resistance among Enterobacteriaceae causing clinical infections in Africa: a systematic review and meta-analysis (2012-2020).

BACKGROUND: Worldwide, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has grown to represent a serious threat to the diagnosis, management, and prevention of bacterial diseases. Due to their multidrug resistance attributes, the WHO has classified extended-spectrum-β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-PE)-associated infections as infections of critical significance, posing a serious risk to human health. Thus, the goal of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to assess the pooled prevalence of ESBL-PE and AMR among strains causing clinical infections in Africa. METHODS: In this systematic rev

Remediation of phenanthrene by highly efficient CdS-SnS photocatalyst and its cytotoxic assessments.

Cadmium sulfide-tin sulfide (CdS-SnS) nanoparticles are a novel kind of photocatalyst. These CdS-SnS nanoparticles are synthesized and characterized using UV-Vis, FT-IR, XRD, SEM-EDX, and DLS techniques, to understand their size distribution, crystalline nature, morphology, shape, optical properties, and elemental composition. This research offers insight into the efficient photocatalytic degradation of Phenanthrene (PHE) using CdS-SnS. The CdS-SnS NPs as photocatalyst can effectively photodegrade the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) such as phenanthrene under simulated solar and UV ligh

Epidemiological Description and Detection of Antimicrobial Resistance in Various Aquatic Sites in Marseille, France.

Antibiotic resistance is a worldwide public health concern and has been associated with reports of elevated mortality. According to the One Health concept, antibiotic resistance genes are transferrable to organisms, and organisms are shared among humans, animals, and the environment. Consequently, aquatic environments are a possible reservoir of bacteria harboring antibiotic resistance genes. In our study, we screened water and wastewater samples for antibiotic resistance genes by culturing samples on different types of agar media. Then, we performed real-time PCR to detect the presence of gen

Overrepresentation of Enterobacteriaceae and Escherichia coli is the major gut microbiome signature in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis; a comprehensive metagenomic analysis of IBDMDB datasets.

OBJECTIVES: A number of converging strands of research suggest that the intestinal Enterobacteriaceae plays a crucial role in the development and progression of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), however, the changes in the abundance of Enterobacteriaceae species and their related metabolic pathways in Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) compared to healthy people are not fully explained by comprehensive comparative metagenomics analysis. In the current study, we investigated the alternations of the Enterobacterales population in the gut microbiome of patients with CD and UC compar
