Implementation of a Clinician-led Medication Adherence Intervention Among Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus.

OBJECTIVE: Medication nonadherence in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) leads to poor clinical outcomes. We developed a clinician-led adherence intervention that involves reviewing real-time pharmacy refill data and using effective communication to address nonadherence. Prior pilot testing showed promising effects on medication adherence. Here, we describe further evaluation of how clinicians implemented the intervention and identify areas for improvement. METHODS: We audio recorded encounters of clinicians with patients who were nonadherent (90-day proportion of days covered [PDC] < 80% for

Barriers and Facilitators to Adherence to a Mediterranean Diet Intervention during Chemotherapy Treatment: A Qualitative Analysis.

Patients undergoing chemotherapy are at risk for malnutrition and a high symptom burden, and nutritional interventions can address clinical and supportive care outcomes. Herein, we identified barriers and facilitators to adhering to a Mediterranean Diet (MedDiet) intervention during chemotherapy. Patients with cancer (any type) who were undergoing chemotherapy were enrolled into a clinical trial testing the effects of an 8-week MedDiet intervention on cancer-related fatigue. Participants were randomized 2:1, MedDiet:control. The intervention entailed food provision, education, a cookbook, a se

The impact of psychological user characteristics on adherence to an mHealth intervention among women in their postpartum period.

Until now, the impact of psychological factors on adherence to mHealth applications, especially among postpartum women, remains poorly understood, even though the efficacy depends on the regular use of the applications. The I-PREGNO application aims to promote maternal healthy weight management and improve mental health during the perinatal period by addressing core psychological skills like stress management and emotion regulation. This study examined whether depressive symptoms, parenting stress, emotion regulation difficulties, self-efficacy, and partnership status predicted adherence acros

Effect of a multicomponent intervention on adherence to the Mediterranean diet in older adults: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: The Mediterranean diet (MD) is one of the dietary patterns with the strongest evidence for preventing chronic diseases and promoting healthy aging. However, adherence to it is declining among the older population in Spain, in parallel with the rise in Westernized eating patterns. In this context, community-based interventions and the development of culinary skills are emerging as promising strategies for improving dietary quality and promoting healthy habits. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of a multi-component intervention compared with a traditional group educational talk, on

Multicomponent interventions designed to support adherence to guideline-recommended therapy in patients with peripheral artery disease: A scoping review.

Adherence to guideline-recommended therapies for peripheral artery disease (PAD), including pharmacotherapy (antiplatelet, lipid-lowering, and antihypertensive agents) and lifestyle modifications (smoking cessation, diet, weight management, and physical activity) remains low. Though single-component interventions targeting smoking cessation, exercise, or medication adherence show some efficacy, comprehensive multicomponent interventions are vital for addressing the complexity of PAD management. This review systematically synthesized multicomponent interventions for patients with PAD. A systema

Facilitators and barriers of adherence to rectal interventions by parents of young children with functional constipation: a qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: Functional constipation in children is a worldwide problem that impacts both children's gastrointestinal function and the quality of family life. The treatment of this condition often depends on parental involvement to administer rectal interventions to their children to stimulate defecation. However, adherence to rectal interventions is currently suboptimal. We sought to explore the factors that facilitate and hinder parents from adherence to rectal interventions. METHODS: A descriptive qualitative study was conducted involving semi-structured interviews with parents of infants a

Social network interventions for dietary adherence among adults with type 2 diabetes: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Optimal adherence to recommended diets is crucial to achieving long-term glycaemic control among individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) individuals. However, there is limited evidence on the effectiveness of interventions that target dietary adherence through social networks. Since social networks can influence individuals' health behaviours, it is important to thoroughly evaluate the impact of social network interventions on dietary adherence in adults with T2D. This systematic review protocol aimed to provide insights into future interventions and improve diabetes management st
