Hyperhidrosis (HH), a condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond thermoregulation, significantly impairs quality of life. Conventional medications to treat HH include aluminum chloride hexahydrate, systemic anticholinergics, and botulinum toxin injections. New treatments have emerged including glycopyrronium bromide, sofpironium bromide, targeted alkali thermolysis, and microwave devices. This paper reviews the mechanism of action, efficacy, safety, and practical considerations associated with these treatments.

Cross-linking of proteins to DNA in live, intact Novikoff ascites hepatoma cells exposed in vitro to different concentrations of CuSO4, Pb(NO3)2, HgCl2, and AlCl3 was studied. Hyperhidrosis and bromhidrosis were lately reported as novel side effects of laser-assisted removal of axillary hair. The goal of our study was to evaluate the reversibility of these two side effects. An observational, single-center cohort study included over a 30-month screening period 30 patients with newly reported hyperhidrosis and/or bromhidrosis related to axillary depilatory laser.
