Experiments have been made on the solid adsorption and stability of the essential oil extracted from Gaultheria yunnanensis. The results show that among the chemical constituents of the oil, methyl salicylate accounts for 99.66%. Grain adsorbents of aluminum hydroxide gel have been proved useful in obtaining higher release rates of the oil at required temperatures as well as keeping the oil stable at room temperature.

Aluminum-based water treatment residual (WTR)-coated wood mulches were synthesized and tested for removal of heavy metals and phosphorus (P) in synthetic urban stormwater. BACKGROUND: Lanthanum (La) carbonate is a new treatment for hyperphosphatemia. We tested the effects of oral La carbonate and aluminum hydroxide, respectively, on tissue accumulation and liver function in rats with chronic renal failure (CRF).

In this paper two cases of soft tissue calcification in patients suffering from severe head injuries are reported. The pathologic physiology of calcium and phosphate metabolism and possible causes of soft tissue calcifications are discussed. The value of prophylaxis is emphasized. If treatment by aluminum hydroxide or Na2SO4-infusions does not lead to success surgical treatment will be necessary. Presently therapy by vitamin D, diphosphonates and thyreocalcitonin is under clinical investigation.

This review has detailed a method for the quantification of postprandial gastric secretion and emptying based on multiple marker dilution. The method can be applied to the physiologic study of antacid therapy, allowing measurement of the effects of the antacid on gastric secretion and emptying, as well as measurement of the efficiency of antacid utilization.
