North Atlantic right whales (Eubalaena glacialis) produce a loud, broadband signal referred to as the gunshot sound. These distinctive sounds may be suitable for passive acoustic monitoring and detection of right whales; however, little is known about the prevalence of these sounds in important right whale habitats, such as the Bay of Fundy. Desulfovibrio africanus strain Walvis Bay is an anaerobic sulfate-reducing bacterium capable of producing methylmercury (MeHg), a potent human neurotoxin. The mechanism of methylation by this and other organisms is unknown. We present the 4.2-Mb genome sequence to provide further insight into microbial mercury methylation and sulfate-reducing bacteria.

In an open study 30 patients with the symptom of tinnitus were treated for 12 weeks with nimodipin (Bay e 9736) 3 X 30 mg/die. 12 patients showed sudden deafness with a history of one day up to more than 20 years. Studies of blood genetics in "normal healthy" persons and patients of different racial groups in the San Francisco Bay Area were carried out from January 1965 to April 1968. Accurate estimates of coastal air-sea CO2 fluxes require explicitly accounting for the physical and biological controls on sea surface CO2 partial pressure (pCO2).
