Acquired reactive perforating collagenosis is a perforating dermatosis characterized by transepidermal elimination of collagen. Leprosy is an ancient disease that has survived into the modern ages despite an intense effort to eliminate it worldwide. Here we report a case of a 32-year-old woman who had recurrent painful nodules of six months duration. Because of a lack of lesions suggestive of leprosy, she was initially diagnosed to have cutaneous vasculitis and erythema nodosum. However, because of the persistent nature of her condition she was later detected to have leprosy and erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) with the aid of simple diagnostic tests.

An immunoenzymatic diagnostic technique applicable to cutaneous leishmaniasis is described. The antigen used (Leishmania tropica major) was equally useful in diagnosing visceral and mucocutaneous forms of the disease. In this case report, latex-induced asthma is described in a dental assistant with an associated history of contact dermatitis, contact urticaria, and rhinitis. She switched to vinyl gloves, which eliminated her cutaneous symptoms, but her respiratory symptoms continued. Skin-testing to latex was strongly positive. Methacholine challenge and peak expiratory flow rates (PEFR) were abnormal during the workweek but normalized after a two-week vacation. The present study examines the role that dogs play in the maintenance of the Leishmania cycle in the State of Paraná, Southern Brazil. INTRODUCTION: Imiquimod (Aldara) is an immune response modifier approved for the topical treatment of external genital and perianal warts which can mediate regression of several cutaneous malignancies [basal cell carcinoma (BCC), Bowen's disease, actinic keratosis, and metastasis of malignant melanoma].
