A 68-year-old male presented with painless left scrotal enlargement of one year duration. Ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging showed a multilocular cystic mass, 10×7.5× 8.5 cm in size, in the left scrotum. The intracystic fluid was partially hemorrhagic. A solid part of the tumor, seen at the base of the scrotum, was partially calcified and was enhanced by contrast medium. The left testis could not be identified by imaging studies. Although CT imaging showed a simple cyst in the right kidney, no other lesions in the kidneys, adrenal glands, pancreas or the centr

Urachal mucinous neoplasms are rare and include both villous adenomas and invasive adenocarcinomas. These mucinous tumours should be completely excised as they can demonstrate aggressive clinical behaviour, including the development of pseudomyxoma peritonei. We describe a 70-year-old woman who presented with a lower abdominal mass and received a diagnosis of a rare, complex urachal mucinous cystadenoma of undetermined malignant potential. This tumour demonstrated extensive mucin extravasation into perivesical soft tissue, but was not associated with pseudomyxoma peritonei or any malignancy. R

Benign mucinous cystadenomas MCA are rare benign neoplasms in the pediatric age group. Only 19 cases have been described before, and they often present as large abdominal masses. We present a 12-year-old patient that had a huge mass arising from the left ovary causing bilateral hydronephrosis and renal insufficiency. The final pathology revealed a benign MCA. Patients with mucinous tumors usually present late, this may lead to renal insufficiency secondary to urinary outflow obstruction. Unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is usually sufficient treatment for these cases. The diagnosis of MCA shou

Gastric duplication cyst (GDC) in an adult can have several clinical presentations. A review of the literature showed previously reported cases of GDC presenting as pancreatic pseudocyst or with greatly raised concentrations of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (CA 19-9). It is often difficult to discriminate GDC from pancreatic cystic tumour, in particular pancreatic mucinous cystadenoma, in which concentrations of carcinoembryonic antigen and CA 19-9 are classically raised. This report describes an adult case of GDC mimicking a mucinous cystadenoma of the pancreas. This is the first report of a simu

OBJECTIVE: To report two cases of papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis.
METHODS: Clinical and pathological study of 2 male patients 48 and 26-year-old respectively, presenting with a solid, painful mass in the head of the epididymis. The nodules were removed.
RESULTS: Pathological analysis showed two papillary cystadenomas of the epididymis.
CONCLUSIONS: Papillary cystadenoma of the epididymis is an epithelial tumor of unclear origin. It is associated with von Hippel-Lindau disease and infertility. They are uncommon and benign.

INTRODUCTION: Report of a rare presentation of mucinous cystadenoma of the vermiform appendix.
CLINICAL PICTURE: A lady who presented with intestinal obstruction and peritonitis was found to have gangrenous small bowel caused by strangulation by a tumour of the appendix.
TREATMENT: Right hemicolectomy.
OUTCOME: The histology of the appendicular tumour was mucinous cystadenoma. The patient recovered well.
CONCLUSION: Mucinous cystadenoma of the appendix can present in many ways and it is important to recognise the pathology at operation.

A 38-year-old female with systemic lupus erythematosus presented with abdominal pain, diarrhea and iron-deficient anemia. Computed tomogram showed a 2 x 4 cm inhomogeneous lesion of the right adnexa. An unusual mass was identified extending from the appendiceal orifice at colonoscopy, and an 8 cm tubular appendix, apparently prolapsed into the cecum, was identified at celiotomy. An appendectomy with cecectomy was performed. On cut section, mucin was extruded from the lumen of the appendix. A mucinous neoplasm of the appendix with mucinous dissection to the serosal surface was reported at the t

Serous papillary cystadenoma of borderline malignancy arising in the broad ligament is extremely rare. We report the case of a 28-year-old female with a cystic mass in the broad ligament, who underwent complete excision of the mass, right salpingo-oophorectomy, omentectomy and multiple peritoneal biopsies. Pathology showed a serous papillary cystadenoma of borderline malignancy of the broad ligament, without peritoneal and omental involvement. A review of the literature about this rare pathologic condition is reported.

Cystadenoma with mesenchymal stroma is a rare neoplasm of the liver that occurs exclusively in young women and has a potential for malignant transformation. A light microscopic and immunohistochemical study of a case of biliary cystadenoma and another of biliary cystadenocarcinoma revealed a range of differentiation of the lining epithelial cells. The lining cells in the cystadenoma resembled the cells of the normal intrahepatic bile ducts. In contrast, the epithelial lining in the case of cystadenocarcinoma had features of intestinal mucosa, including goblet, Paneth, and endocrine cells simil

The clinical and pathological findings including light microscopic and ultrastructural features of two cases of borderline mucinous and serous cystadenomas that originated in the broad ligament are reported. The tumors did not involve the oviduct or ovary. They probably arose in pre-existing cysts of mesothelial and paramesonephric (primary Müllerian) origin. These rare tumors bear a close resemblance to the borderline epithelial tumors of the ovary and the same prognostic criteria may be applicable to the lesions presented here.

Cystadenomas occur rather rarely among the cystic lesions of the pancreas, but they nevertheless require special attention. These cystadenomas do have a tendency for malignant degeneration, especially their mucinous form with papillary proliferation of the epithelium; insofar cystadenomas have to distinguished from retention nor pseudocysts, resulting from pancreatitis or from traumatic lesions of the pancreas. Differentiation of cystadenomas and other cysts can neither be achieved by preoperative diagnostic procedures nor by macroscopic findings during surgery. Diagnosis however can be establ

Normal and abnormal cystic structures around the ovaries need to be evaluated based on the history, clinical signs, diagnostic imaging and paraclinical methods. An intact spitz nulliparous female, 9 years old, was referred with a normal estrous cycle and health history. During the ultrasound examination, bilateral cystic structures were observed around the ovaries just caudal to the kidneys. The left-side cystic masses were larger than the right-side and no abdominal free fluid observed. Based on the cystic structures and the age of the dog, an ovariohysterectomy was performed and histopatholo

Hidrocystomas and cystadenomas are benign tumors, with malignant transformation being exceptionally rare, most commonly reported in the periocular region. We present a rare case of adenocarcinoma in situ arising within an apocrine papillary cystadenoma of the scalp in a 53-year-old man, without an associated nevus sebaceus. Microscopically, the tumor appeared as a predominantly cystic lesion and was located in the deep dermis. The neoplasm was composed of cuboidal to cylindrical cells, displaying decapitation secretion and forming glands, micropapillae, and occasional papillae with fibrovascul

Odontogenic maxillary sinusitis (OMS) is a condition presenting to both the dental and otolaryngologic practitioner. Common causes of OMS include dental implants, displacement of a maxillary tooth root tip during extraction, migration of materials used in root canal therapy or graft material in sinus lift procedure. A 68-year-old male patient presented with complaints of repeated episodes of sinusitis for about 3 months which was not responding to conservative management. He had undergone multiple dental procedures 5 months back. Limited cut CT Paranasal Sinus form peripheral centre was sugges

Cystadenomas are benign neoplasms found in major and minor salivary glands. In cases where both oncocytic cells and papillary architecture, without a lymphoid component, exist, the lesion is called oncocytic papillary cystadenoma (OPC). OPCs are rarely encountered in the laryngeal region and that is why they are usually misdiagnosed as other types of laryngeal tumors. Hereby, we present a case of a misdiagnosed laryngeal OPC in an attempt to raise awareness of this rare entity, both for the surgeon performing the excision of the laryngeal mass and for the pathologists examining the specimen.
