Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) is a type of cancer originating in the lymph nodes. The preferred therapy for advanced HL is a combination of chemotherapies including doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine (ABVD). ABVD has been standard therapy for advanced HL. It is generally considered as safe and rarely has been reported to cause acute liver failure. We present a case of 79-year-old woman with HL, who developed acute liver failure secondary to first cycle of ABVD chemotherapy.

For cases of malignant pheochromocytoma the prognosis is poor and experience with its treatment remains limited. We present a case of a hypertensive 16 year old woman with malignant pheochromocytoma and a good treatment response. Bone metastases appeared 6 months after the first resection. Local excision of the thoracic vertebrae metastases and palliative radiation therapy were performed, after which she received twelve cycles of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine. Sixteen months later the patient remains asymptomatic without biochemical catecholamine activity.

A 30-year-old white man with Stage IV B Hodgkin's disease, mixed cellularity type, developed leptomeningeal involvement shortly after relapsing on nitrogen mustard, Oncovin (vincristine), procarbazine, and prednisone (MOPP), and while receiving Adriamycin (doxorubicin), bleomycin, Velban (vinblastine), and dacarbazine (ABVD). Whole brain irradiation and intrathecal methotrexate were successfully incorporated into his treatment program. The patient has now been in complete remission for more than 40 months. A review of this rare complication of Hodgkin's disease is presented.

Vanishing bile duct syndrome is an uncommon condition characterised by the progressive loss and disappearance of bile ducts. It is an acquired form of cholestatic liver disease presenting with hepatic ductopenia (loss of >50% bile ducts in the portal areas). We present a case of vanishing bile duct syndrome as a presentation of Hodgkin's lymphoma who was treated with standard-of-care chemotherapy-doxorubicin, bleomycin, vinblastine and dacarbazine (along with brief administration of rituximab), which led to complete response and normalisation of liver function.

A 62-year-old Japanese male developed multiple hepatic metastases two years after resection of pheochromocytoma of the right adrenal gland. Transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) was performed for the purpose of the treatment of hepatic metastases resistant to 27 cycles of combined chemotherapy consisting of cyclophosphamide, vincristine, and dacarbazine. After TAE, the hepatic metastatic lesions decreased in size and hypertension passed its crisis. The present case suggests the utility of TAE for multiple hepatic metastases under careful blood pressure monitoring.

The development of transient hypothyroidism and goiter in a patient with a metastasized malignant melanoma during treatment with recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) and dacarbazine is reported. Signs of autoimmune thyroiditis became apparent 2 weeks after the start of treatment and disappeared after treatment stopped. It is likely that rIL-2 was responsible by interfering with preexisting autoimmune thyroid disease. The possible mechanisms are discussed here. Patients with positive antithyroid microsomal antibody titers are prime candidates for rIL-2-induced thyroiditis.

No universal gold standard chemotherapy exists for the treatment of older (≥60 years) patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). To evaluate the current curative treatment strategies used in the Nordic countries, we collected data from patients diagnosed in Sweden, Denmark and Norway during the years 2000 to 2021. We included 1569 patients: 704 (45%) Swedish, 671 (43%) Danish, and 194 (12%) Norwegian. RATIONALE: Carotid body tumors (CBTs) are head and neck paragangliomas (PGLs) with a low incidence of distant metastasis. To date, only a few metastatic cases treated with detailed systemic therapy are reported and effective management is still inconclusive. BACKGROUND: Hodgkin lymphoma usually presents with sequential enlargement of peripheral lymph nodes, and bone marrow invasion rarely occurs (approximately 3-5%). Older patients with classic Hodgkin lymphoma experience poorer outcomes than younger individuals, due to comorbidities and functional limitations affecting treatment tolerance. In this retrospective single-centre study of 140 patients, we evaluated treatment patterns, outcomes and the prognostic value of two geriatric scores: the Age, Comorbidities and Albumin (ACA) Index and the Frailty Score. Ipilimumab enhances the T lymphocyte mediated immune response to both tumour cells and healthy tissue, improving survival in patients with metastatic melanoma but also leads to more immune-related adverse events (irAEs) than previously used treatments, such as dacarbazine. We present three patients with neurological irAEs from ipilimumab treatment: hypophysitis, meningitis and Guillain-Barré syndrome. Once an irAE occurs, ipilimumab should be stopped and corticosteroids started. Usually, ipilimumab-induced irAE symptoms improve within days to weeks, but can be life-threatening if unrecognised.

Fourteen consecutive melanoma patients with evaluable metastatic disease were treated with combination chemotherapy including procarbazine, vincristine and lomustine (POC). All but two patients had been previously treated with single agent chemotherapy (dacarbazine 11 patients, melphalan plus hyperthermia 1 patient). We report a case of metastatic malignant melanoma in the oesophagus. 13 years after the wide excision of primary skin melanoma, we found a polypoid tumor in the upper third of the oesophagus. Biopsy result was melanoma malignum. After negative staging we performed transhiatal oesophagectomy with gastric conduit and cervical anastomosis. Metastatic nature of the oesophageal tumor was proven by histology. After uneventful postoperative course, the patient received adjuvant dacarbazine treatment. The patient was is in good condition, and disease free on the 18 month follow-up.
