Developing a New Computer-Aided Clinical Decision Support System for Prediction of Successful Postcardioversion Patients with Persistent Atrial Fibrillation.

We propose a new algorithm to predict the outcome of direct-current electric (DCE) cardioversion for atrial fibrillation (AF) patients. AF is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and DCE cardioversion is a noninvasive treatment to end AF and return the patient to sinus rhythm (SR). Unfortunately, there is a high risk of AF recurrence in persistent AF patients; hence clinically it is important to predict the DCE outcome in order to avoid the procedure's side effects. This study develops a feature extraction and classification framework to predict AF recurrence patients from the underlying structu

YOLO11-based deep learning system for automated tubal patency classification in hysterosalpingography: a comparative study for clinical decision support.

In the United States, around 500,000 hysterosalpingography (HSG) procedures are performed annually. One fluoroscopic procedure that is frequently used to evaluate tubal patency in infertile women is hysterosalpingography. Clinical decision-making depends on the fast and accurate classification of tubal patency results, but this procedure still depends on radiologist skill, which varies greatly across clinical situations. In order to automatically classify tubal patency categories in HSG pictures, this study suggests using YOLO11, a cutting-edge deep learning architecture. Three baseline models

Development of the RightWheel manual wheelchair wheel rolling resistance clinical decision support system through iterative clinician interviews.

INTRODUCTION: Manual wheelchair users (MWU) frequently experience upper limb (UL) injury and pain. Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) provide guidance on how to reduce risk of UL injury and pain but the recommendations provide only general advice such as to minimizing repetitive strain by reducing rolling resistance (RR). RR is due to energy loss between wheels and ground during wheelchair propulsion and is a major contributor of repetitive strain for MWUs. Motivated by the recommendation to reduce RR, we developed a clinical decision support system (CDSS) to provide client-specific RR predict

Efficient feature selection based novel clinical decision support system for glaucoma prediction from retinal fundus images.

The process of feature selection (FS) is vital aspect of machine learning (ML) model's performance enhancement where the objective is the selection of the most influential subset of features. This paper suggests the Gravitational search optimization algorithm (GSOA) technique for metaheuristic-based FS. Glaucoma disease is selected as the subject of investigation as this disease is spreading worldwide at a very fast pace; 111 million instances of glaucoma are expected by 2040, up from 64 million in 2015. It causes widespread vision impairment. Optic nerve fibres can be degraded and cannot be r

Verification of a clinical decision support system for the diagnosis of headache disorders based on patient-computer interactions: a multi-center study.

BACKGROUND: Although headache disorders are common, the current diagnostic approach is unsatisfactory. Previously, we designed a guideline-based clinical decision support system (CDSS 1.0) for diagnosing headache disorders. However, the system requires doctors to enter electronic information, which may limit widespread use. METHODS: In this study, we developed the updated CDSS 2.0, which handles clinical information acquisition via human-computer conversations conducted on personal mobile devices in an outpatient setting. We tested CDSS 2.0 at headache clinics in 16 hospitals in 14 provinces

Development of a Novel Clinical Decision Support System for Exercise Prescription Among Patients With Multiple Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors cluster in an individual. Exercise is universally recommended to prevent and treat CVD. Yet, clinicians lack guidance on how to design an exercise prescription (ExRx) for patients with multiple CVD risk factors. To address this unmet need, we developed a novel clinical decision support system to prescribe exercise (prioritize personalize prescribe exercise [P3-EX]) for patients with multiple CVD risk factors founded upon the evidenced-based recommendations of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and American Heart Association. To develop P3-E

Can an mhealth clinical decision-making support system improve adherence to neonatal healthcare protocols in a low-resource setting?

BACKGROUND: This study assessed health workers' adherence to neonatal health protocols before and during the implementation of a mobile health (mHealth) clinical decision-making support system (mCDMSS) that sought to bridge access to neonatal health protocol gap in a low-resource setting. METHODS: We performed a cross-sectional document review within two purposively selected clusters (one poorly-resourced and one well-resourced), from each arm of a cluster-randomized trial at two different time points: before and during the trial. The total trial consisted of 16 clusters randomized into 8 int

A clinical decision support system for the diagnosis of probable migraine and probable tension-type headache based on case-based reasoning.

BACKGROUND: The overlap between probable migraine (PM) and probable tension-type headache (PTTH) often confuses physicians in clinical practice. Although clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) have been proven to be helpful in the diagnosis of primary headaches, the existing guideline-based headache disorder CDSSs do not perform adequately due to this overlapping issue. Thus, in this study, a CDSS based on case-based reasoning (CBR) was developed in order to solve this problem. METHODS: First, a case library consisting of 676 clinical cases, 56.95% of which had been diagnosed with PM and 4

Artificial intelligence-driven clinical decision support systems to assist healthcare professionals and people with diabetes in Europe at the point of care: a Delphi-based consensus roadmap.

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of people with diabetes has the potential to drive a paradigm shift in diabetes care, both minimising treatment inertia and optimising clinical outcomes. This is a significant opportunity, given the predicted increase in the burden of diabetes over the next 20 years. However, there are concerns that regulatory processes for development and implementation of AI-driven technologies are not adequate for systems that may adapt to new data and change from their original performance characteristics as evaluate
