Exercise-induced ovarian torsion in the cycle following gonadotrophin therapy: case report.

The incidence of ovarian torsion has been reported to be increased during controlled ovarian hyperstimulation. In this report we describe exercise-induced ovarian torsion in an ovary with a persistent cyst, following a failed gonadotrophin-stimulated intra-uterine insemination cycle. This report suggests that the risk of ovarian torsion persists beyond the treatment cycle and that patients should be instructed to refrain from exercise or strenuous activity if regression to normal ovarian size has not been documented. Ovarian torsion should be high in the differential diagnosis in patients expe

[Non pharmacological therapy in hypertensive patients--effect of physical exercise on hypertension].

Many well-controlled studies have shown that non-pharmacological treatments are effective in lowering blood pressure, especially in mild hypertensive. The principle proven measures are (1) reductions of sodium intake, body weight (in obesity) and alcohol and (2) physical exercise. Physical exercise has been proven for the antihypertensive effectiveness last ten years. We have carried out mine studies and demonstrated the reduction of blood pressure by mild (approximately 50% of maximum oxygen uptake) intensity cycle ergo meter (60 min. x 3 times a week x 10 week) by -11/-6 mmhg. We found sympa

Personalized Medical Nutrition Therapy and Physical Exercise: The Future of Diabesity Care.

PURPOSE OF THE REVIEW: Diabesity, the coexistence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity, represents one of the major global health challenges. This review aims to synthesize current evidence on personalized medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and structured physical exercise as cornerstones of diabesity management, with a particular focus on very-low-energy ketogenic therapy (VLEKT). RECENT FINDINGS: Conventional pharmacotherapies improve glycemic control and promote weight reduction but often fail to fully address the multifactorial pathophysiology of diabesity. MNT has demonstrated sig

Application of Schroth exercise therapy in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis: a bibliometric analysis.

BACKGROUND: Adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) is a common three-dimensional spinal deformity. Schroth exercise, a form of physiotherapeutic scoliosis-specific exercise (PSSE), has increasingly been studied in relation to Cobb angle, angle of trunk rotation (ATR), and health-related quality of life. However, the publication landscape, thematic evolution, influential contributors, and collaboration networks of this field have not been comprehensively characterized. OBJECTIVE: To map publication output, collaboration networks, influential documents, institutions, journals, authors, and thema

Relevance of Cardiovascular Exercise in Cancer and Cancer Therapy-Related Cardiac Dysfunction.

PURPOSE OF THE REVIEW: Cancer therapy-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) has been identified as a threat to overall and cancer-related survival. Although aerobic exercise training (AET) has been shown to improve cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), the relationship between specific exercise regimens and cancer survival, heart failure development, and reduction of CTRCD is unclear. In this review, we discuss the impact of AET on molecular pathways and the current literature of sports in the field of cardio-oncology. RECENT FINDINGS: Cardio-oncological exercise trials have focused on variations of

Carbon monoxide-loaded cell therapy as an exercise mimetic for sarcopenia treatment.

Sarcopenia is characterized by loss of muscle strength and muscle mass with aging. The growing number of sarcopenia patients as a result of the aging population has no viable treatment. Exercise maintains muscle strength and mass by increasing peroxisome growth factor activating receptor γ-conjugating factor-1α (PGC-1α) and Akt signaling in skeletal muscle. The present study focused on the carbon monoxide (CO), endogenous activator of PGC-1α and Akt, and investigated the therapeutic potential of CO-loaded red blood cells (CO-RBCs), which is bioinspired from in vivo CO delivery system, as an ex

Three weeks of exercise therapy altered brain functional connectivity in fibromyalgia inpatients.

BACKGROUND: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic pain syndrome characterized by widespread pain, tenderness, and fatigue. Patients with FM have no effective medication so far, and their activity of daily living and quality of life are remarkably impaired. Therefore, new therapeutic approaches are awaited. Recently, exercise therapy has been gathering much attention as a promising treatment for FM. However, the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood, particularly, in the central nervous system, including the brain. Therefore, we investigated functional connectivity changes and their relations

[Hyperspectral imaging demonstrates microcirculatory effects of postoperative exercise therapy in Dupuytren's disease].

BACKGROUND: Dupuytren's disease (DD) is a common connective tissue disorder of the hand. To prevent recurrence of contractures, patients usually receive early postoperative ergotherapy (ET). However, it is yet unknown how this measure impacts on local blood flow and hence on the occurrence or prevention of postoperative complications. Hyperspectral imaging (HSI) allows for a quantitative evaluation of tissue perfusion by measuring oxygen saturation and tissue water content. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this work was to evaluate the microcirculatory effects of early ET after partial fasciectomy in DD

TELEMOLD project: oximetry and exercise telemonitoring to improve long-term oxygen therapy.

BACKGROUND: Standard assessment of long-term oxygen therapy (LTOT) prescription involves hospital-based clinical tests. However, there is some evidence suggesting that oxygen demand during daily activities may not be correctly estimated by such tests, when compared with continuous ambulatory oximetry. The authors describe the results of a study aiming to evaluate the clinical relevance of a home telemonitoring system in LTOT optimization. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Thirty-five chronic respiratory failure patients were monitored in real time with an oximeter sensor and an accelerometer. Signals wer

Physical exercise as adjuvant therapy for patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Even when the procedures are successful, patients experience considerable physical, psychological and psychosocial stress before, during and after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Physical exercise therapy constitutes a potentially promising intervention to reduce such stress within the framework of HSCT because of its multidimensional effectiveness. Up to May 2007, fifteen published studies have examined physical exercise interventions in the context of HSCT, with no study reporting any unexpected or negative effects. The most common intervention involved isolated aerobic exerc
