RATIONALE: Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) are rare neoplasms with only a few reported cases affecting the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and anterior skull base.
PATIENT CONCERNS: A 12-year-old girl with a mass in her nose was admitted to the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Shenzhen Children's Hospital. She had a 4-month history of progressive, unilateral right nasal obstruction, unilateral mucopurulent rhinorrhea, foul nasal odor, snoring, hyposmia, occasional epistaxis, and no headache, no facial numbness, without eye swelling and vision loss.

A 5-year-old boy presented with gradually progressive painful proptosis of the left eye for 5 months. He had an incidental testicular swelling for which he underwent high inguinal orchidectomy and histopathology showed atypical lymphoid cells. Biopsy involves the surgical removal of a tissue specimen for histopathologic evaluation. Most intraocular tumors are reliably diagnosed based on the clinical evaluation or with noninvasive diagnostic techniques. However, accurately diagnosing a small percentage of tumors can be challenging. A tissue biopsy is thus needed to establish a definitive diagnosis and plan the requisite treatment. PURPOSE: Herein, we report a rare case of recurrent hematocornea due to a non-pigmented adenoma of the ciliary body and its successful management with repeated deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty (DALK).

Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular neoplasm in adults. Its bilateral localization is extremely rare. The aim of the paper is analysis of the cases of bilateral uveal melanoma. Five bilateral uveal melanoma patients were diagnosed in the Department of Ophtalmology and Ocular Oncology beetwen 1980 and 2014. Both eyes of four patients were threated with brachytherapy. Cowden syndrome or multiple hamartoma syndrome is an autosomal dominant condition with variable expressions that result mainly from mutation in the PTEN gene on arm 10q. It is characterized by multiple hamartomatous neoplasms of the skin, oral mucosa, gastrointestinal tract, bones, CNS, eyes, and genitourinary tract. Mucocutaneous features include trichilemmomas, oral mucosal papillomatosis, acral keratosis, and palmoplantar keratosis. Enucleation is an acceptable therapeutic modality used for end-stage ocular diseases unresponsive to another treatment. The most often indications for enucleation are trauma, intraocular tumors, secondary glaucoma, phthisis bulbi and cosmetically disfigured eyes. Although, indications for enucleation are similar in most ophthalmic clinics, the pathologic conditions leading to this procedure differ from place to place. The aim of this paper is to present the current knowledge about the clinical indications for enucleation in different parts of the world.

We describe the case of a 69-year-old woman who presented with a decline in vision in the left eye and was found to have a choroidal lesion with clinical and echographic features concerning for primary uveal melanoma. Systemic imaging identified numerous metastases to the liver, kidneys, paratracheal lymph nodes, lung, and brain. The hepatic lesion was biopsied, and genetic analysis identified a Val600Glu (c.1799T>A) BRAF mutation, consistent with a cutaneous primary malignancy, although no primary tumor was identified.
