Vitelline duct anomalies (VDA, including Meckel's diverticulum (MD)) result from failed embryologic obliteration. This study aimed for characteristics in symptomatic versus asymptomatic VDA, analyzing clinico-laboratory data from 73 children, aged 1 day to 17 years, treated at a tertiary Pediatric Surgery Institution from 2002-2017. We report a case of a 29-year old woman with intestinal obstruction caused by endometriosis localised in the proximity of the ileocecal valve. Right hemicolectomy was carried out. No other pathology was found. We discuss difficulties of establishing the preoperative diagnosis.

Although foreign body ingestion is relatively common, toothbrush swallowing is rare. We report a case of a swallowed toothbrush which passed through the ileocecal valve and perforated the proximal transverse colon, then the liver. To our knowledge, this is the first case to be reported.

Cutaneous leucocytoclastic vasculitis (CLV) is a type of small vessel vasculitis, predominantly presenting with palpable purpuras and sometimes with systemic manifestations. The long-term results of extensive intestinal resections with the removal of various organs of the ileocecal angle, carried out for acute intestinal ileus and malignant tumors, were studied in 88 patients followed up for 1 to 15 years. The experiments were carried out on 42 dogs observed within 3 years. The results in 56 children (28 with neurogenic bladder dysfunction) undergoing enterocystoplasty between 1981 and 1985 are presented. Ileal, ileocecal, right colon and sigmoid segments were used in tubular and opened configurations. Our experience leads us to recommend opened ileal segment reconstruction in neurogenic bladder patients and those with weak anal sphincters generally, and open ileocecal or open right colon segments in patients with other etiologies. BACKGROUND: Deloyers procedure enables anastomosis of the ascending colon to the rectum following extended resections that prevent usual fashion anastomosis. Intestinal invagination or intussusception is the telescoping of a segment of the intestinal tract into an adjacent one. We report on a case of total colonic aganglionosis successfully treated by a modified Martin procedure under the specific environmental circumstances of a developing country.
