A practical method to improve the performance of knowledge-based VMAT planning for endometrial and cervical cancer.

PURPOSE: The aim of this work was to demonstrate a practical and effective method to improve the performance of RapidPlan (RP) model. METHODS: 203 consecutive clinical VMAT plans (P0) for cervical and endometrial cancer were used to train an RP model (M0). The plans were then reoptimized by M0 to generate 203 new plans (P1). Compared with P0, 150 plans with a lower mean dose (MD) of bladder, rectum and PBM were selected from P1 to configure a new RP model (M1). A final RP model (M2) was trained using plans in M1 and the remaining 53 plans from P1 (excluding OARs with worse MD) and the corresp

Novel Knowledge-Based Transcriptomic Profiling of Lipid Lysophosphatidylinositol-Induced Endothelial Cell Activation.

To determine whether pro-inflammatory lipid lysophosphatidylinositols (LPIs) upregulate the expressions of membrane proteins for adhesion/signaling and secretory proteins in human aortic endothelial cell (HAEC) activation, we developed an EC biology knowledge-based transcriptomic formula to profile RNA-Seq data panoramically. We made the following primary findings: first, G protein-coupled receptor 55 (GPR55), the LPI receptor, is expressed in the endothelium of both human and mouse aortas, and is significantly upregulated in hyperlipidemia; second, LPIs upregulate 43 clusters of differentiati

Advances in the Knowledge of the Underlying Airway Remodeling Mechanisms in Chronic Rhinosinusitis Based on the Endotypes: A Review.

Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the nasal and paranasal sinus mucosa that affects up to 10% of the population worldwide. CRS is the most representative disease of the upper respiratory tract where airway remodeling occurs, including epithelial damage, thickening of the basement membrane, fibrosis, goblet cell hyperplasia, subepithelial edema, and osteitis. CRS is divided into two phenotypes according to the presence or absence of nasal polyps: CRS with nasal polyp (CRSwNP) and CRS without nasal polyps (CRSsNP). Based on the underlying pathophysiologic mechan

[Cell-based therapeutic strategies for osteoarthritis in equine patients - Basic knowledge for clinical practitioners].

Cell-based therapies for the treatment of osteoarthritis in equine patients experienced a real boom within the last few years. In every day medical practice, attending veterinary surgeons extract patient's blood or other autologous tissue samples and process the material for the purpose of administering the resulting product to the same patient under their own responsibility. Although being consistently classified as treatment option within the framework of regenerative medicine, the manufacturing processes, ingredients, and mechanisms of action remain highly diverse among cell-based therapies

Conceptual knowledge and sensitization on Asperger's syndrome based on the constructivist approach through virtual reality.

The immense capabilities provided by virtual reality for enhancing empathy and altering social behaviors, make it possible to use virtual reality for the promotion of the understanding between individuals. A social issue that needs to be addressed is the discrimination and marginalization of people with Asperger's syndrome (AS) from the working force, stemming from the lack of recognition and justification of their oddities. In this paper, the effectiveness of a virtual reality simulation, raising awareness on this specific issue, is evaluated. Awareness is a term used in this research to refe

Knowledge based system with embedded intelligent heart sound analyser for diagnosing cardiovascular disorders.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide, and due to the lack of early detection techniques, the incidence of CVD is increasing day by day. In order to address this limitation, a knowledge based system with embedded intelligent heart sound analyser (KBHSA) has been developed to diagnose cardiovascular disorders at early stages. The system analyses digitized heart sounds that are recorded from an electronic stethoscope using advanced digital signal processing and artificial intelligence techniques. KBHSA takes into account data including the patient's personal and pa

SOFIA: a knowledge-infused prompt-based reasoning framework for anxiety screening in social media.

Linguistic-based anxiety screening has become a widely adopted approach for detecting anxiety in social media, with pre-trained language models (PLMs) now forming the state-of-the-art foundation for early mental health detection. However, most existing PLMs are not explicitly optimized for anxiety detection (AD), limiting their adaptability to fine-grained psycholinguistic cues. To address this gap, we introduce SOFIA (Anxious? SOFten-It-Out), a novel prompt-based reasoning framework that enhances PLM capability for binary AD without full fine-tuning. SOFIA integrates multiple prompt template
