For the first time, a regulatory network linking melanin, genes, pathways, and edible quality was constructed for 138 Auricularia cornea strains sourced domestically and internationally. Three patients, employed by janitorial service agencies, were burned severely while buffing floors. A solvent to remove floor lacquer was used in one case, and a solvent to remove glue that held carpet to the floor was used in the other two cases. The solvent used in each case is flammable and was ignited when a floor buffer was used near it. The floor buffers are specifically labeled as unsafe to operate near flammable liquids. The patients' injuries were severe. All three patients survived. This represents a rather unusual and unsafe industrial practice that should be avoided.

One hundred and fifty patients (300 eyes), mean age 49 +/- 15 years, with degenerative myopia underwent fluorescein and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA). Fluorescence of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) on ICGA was less evident than with fluorescein angiography (FA). A case of optic neuropathy induced by thinner sniffing is reported. A 17-year-old girl, who had been sniffing a lacquer thinner for three months, suffered acute blindness followed by optic atrophy. Brain computed tomography revealed symmetrical low attenuation areas in the bilateral putamen. A remarkable case of onychomycosis by Trichophyton (T.) rubrum combined with nail infestation by Tyrophagus (T.) putrescentiae in an elderly diabetic farmer is described and discussed. Large numbers of eggs and mites in all development stages were present in nail debris, reflecting active reproduction on site. Treatment with ivermectin 0.1% cream and environmental decontamination cleared the mite infestation, while onychomycosis responded well to oral terbinafine and ciclopirox 8% nail lacquer. AIM: To investigate macular changes characteristics among adults with high myopia in Egypt, and to evaluate the relationship between the degree of myopia and the extent of macular alterations.
METHODS: A series of highly myopic eyes with axial length (AL)≥26.0 mm and/or spherical equivalent (SE)≤-6.0 D were included. All subjects underwent automated refraction, correction of refractive error, AL measurement, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) for macular scanning. Myopic maculopathy (MM) for each eye was recorded, and their association with age, refractive error, and AL was determined.

Onychomycosis has been treated for years with oral antifungal agents, and more recently in the United States with a topical nail lacquer. Griseofulvin was the first significant oral agent available to manage onychomycosis. The introduction of the azoles (ketoconazole, itraconazole, and fluconazole) and the allylamine, terbinafine, led to improved cure rates and a broad spectrum of activity. Onychomycosis is a frequent nail disease caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, and nondermatophyte molds. Trichophyton rubrum, T mentagrophytes, and Epidermophyton floccosum are the most common etiologic agents worldwide. Candida spp are the most frequent among the yeasts.
