In the course of sterility therapy 375 pregnancies were observed in 296 patients. 63 women conceived twice or more. At the first visite the mean age of the patients was 25,8 years, the mean duration of sterility 2,7 years. A primary sterility was observed in 207 and a secondary sterility in 98 cases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ovarian cysts appearing during GnRH-a/hMG treatment in patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). OBJECTIVE: To compare the use of two gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists, nafarelin acetate (NA) and leuprolide acetate (LA), in conjunction with human menopausal gonadotropins (hMG)/human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and intrauterine insemination (IUI).

The effects of gonadotrophin administration to 17 Chinese patients with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism (HH) on testicular volume and induction of spermatogenesis were studied. Several studies have shown that gonadotrophin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRHa) offers a promising medical approach in the treatment of uterine leiomyomas. Medical management is very important especially when fertility is desired. We report on a case with mechanical infertility, in which the right tube was obstructed by cornual myoma and the left tube was resected due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. The myoma was reduced in size by GnRHa treatment and the patient subsequently conceived.

Thirty-one women with hypothalamic primary or protracted secondary amenorrhoea were treated with human menopausal gonadotrophin (HMG) in 89 cycles, but adequate follicular growth failed to occur. The preovulatory pattern of serum luteinizing hormone (LH) was investigated in cycles superovulated for in-vitro fertilization (IVF). The avidin-biotin immunoperoxidase method and antisera against highly purified porcine relaxin were utilized to localize relaxin-like immunoreactivity in biopsied specimens from six preovulatory follicles from four women undergoing laparoscopy for oocyte retrieval in an in vitro fertilization program. Seventeen patients with anovulation or luteal deficiency were tested with HMG-HCG for 40 cycles. Follicular development was monitored daily by measurement of immunoreactive plasma estrogen. Ovulation was evaluated by determination of plasma progesterone. Ovulation was induced in 16 patients and 37 of 40 cycles (93%). Fourteen pregnancies occurred in 13 patients. Plasma estrogen measurements in ovulatory cycles at the time of HCG injection ranged from 315 to 1,482 pg/ml (mean 764 pg/ml).
