Mesenteric pseuodycst is a very rare benign childhood tumor, accounting for less than 1 out of 250,000 hospital admissions. We here report a case of giant mesenteric pseudocyst incidentally detected in a 11-year-old boy with acute appendicitis. He complained of persistent abdominal pain for the past 48 hours. He had a history of intermittent pain for several months. Physical examination showed fever and abdominal pain. Ultrasonography showed large peritoneal fluid related to peritonitis probably of appendicular origin. The patient underwent exploratory laparotomy revealing giant abdominal mese

Chylolymphatic cyst, variant of mesenteric cyst, is a rare entity. Clinical presentation and radiological features are not characteristic, so diagnosis can be made finally on histopathology. We report an extremely rare case of giant chylolymphatic cyst measuring >15 cm. A 2-year-old female presented with abdominal pain and vomiting. On examination, a ill-defined and firm mass was palpable just below umbilicus. Positron emission tomography-computed tomography scan revealed a large ill-defined lesion, which measured 16 × 13.2 × 6.7 cm in size and was seen in relation to the abdominal mesentery.

Primary hydatid disease of the intestinal mesentery is rare. We report on a 12-year-old male patient who presented with abdominal pain and urticaria lesions after blunt abdominal trauma. At laparotomy the cyst was found to be ruptured and was totally removed from the surrounding mesenteric tissue. The postoperative course was uneventful. This case is the first child reported with traumatic rupture of a hydatid cyst in a mesenteric location.

INTRODUCTION: Completely isolated intestinal duplication cysts are rare congenital lesions that lack continuity with the gastrointestinal tract and have an independent vascular pedicle. Their presentation beyond infancy and distinction from mesenteric or omental cysts can be challenging, particularly when only noncontrast imaging is available.
CASE DESCRIPTION: We report the laparoscopic resection of a giant isolated intestinal duplication cyst in a 10-year-old boy who presented with abdominal distension and pain. Noncontrast computed tomography demonstrated a large cystic lesion occupying th

INTRODUCTION: Mesenteric psuedocysts are rare tumors of the gastrointestinal mesentery that are seldom symptomatic. Although these benign tumors are most commonly found incidentally during work-up for other pathology, they can be troublesome in select patients based off size, location and risk of malignant transformation. This case is reported in accordance with SCARE Criteria [1].
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 24 year-old-male presents with life-long migratory abdominal pain presents with a one week history of acute pain associated with nausea. Computed tomography revealed free fluid in the pelvis

Benign mesenteric lymphangiomas are rare intra-abdominal cysts which may be asymptomatic or present with a variety of abdominal symptoms including an acute abdomen. We are however not aware of any reports in the literature linking mesenteric lymphangioma to acute pancreatitis. We present the case of a 62-year-old man who was admitted with signs and symptoms of acute pancreatitis and a palpable abdominal mass. Computerised tomography (CT) of his abdomen confirmed the presence of a mesenteric cystic mass. He underwent a laparotomy at which a large thin walled mass filled with a chylous fluid was

Mesenteric cysts are lesions that appear very rare. Its incidence ranges from 1:20,000 in children and 1:100,000 in adults. Their clinical manifestations are atypical and they include abdominal pain, vomit, tumor and complications from hemorrhage, peritonitis when there is a rupture of infected cyst, intestinal occlusion, renal failure, volvulus and malignant transformation. We present a case of mesenteric cyst, located in the mesoappendix with slight vascular compromise and chronic symptoms, its treatment and evolution.

PURPOSE: Abdominal cysts of gastrointestinal origin are rare. Their rarity and varied clinical presentations make their pre-operative diagnosis difficult.
METHODS: Fourteen patients with histological diagnosis of cysts of gastrointestinal origin admitted between 2009 and 2015 were retrospectively analyzed with respect to age, sex, clinical presentation, diagnostic modality, site and type of cyst, management, outcome and follow-up.
RESULTS: The mean age at presentation was 4 years and there were six males and eight females. Abdominal pain was the most common presenting symptom. Five patients

A 67-year-old man presented with an abdominal mass and was diagnosed with a mesenteric cyst based on imaging studies. The cyst was extensively located within the mesentery of the ascending colon; however, complete resection was deemed feasible by dissecting along the right margin of the superior mesenteric vein. A laparoscopic right hemicolectomy was planned and successfully performed, despite the technical challenge posed by adhesive fascial scarring. Thorough preoperative evaluation allowed for safe and complete resection using a minimally invasive approach.

INTRODUCTION: It is rare for primary tumors to arise from the mesentery. Lymphangiomas appear as congenital malformations of the lymphatic system or benign neoplasms as a large, thin-walled, often multilocular cyst. Mesenteric infiltration is common and during surgical treatment, adjustment of structures such as the bowel and resection of the spleen may be required. Cystic mesotheliomas are rare, benign tumors that originate from the peritoneal mesothelium and are more common in women. Mesenteric cysts are mostly benign and rare intra-abdominal tumors, and can be seen as occupying a large cyst

A rare occurrence of an omphalomesenteric duct cyst in an exomphalos minor sac is reported herein. The noteworthy points in this case were an unusual presentation of the rarest variety of umbilical cord cyst. The tapering intra-abdominal end of the cyst was found to be attached to the ileal mesentry, thereby simulating a herniating mesenteric cyst till the histolopathological report resolved the issue.

Hydatid disease is the most common infections worldwide, but it rarely involves multiple organs. Herein, a 12-year-old boy is presented, who was admitted to Children's Medical Center, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran with symptoms of irritability, sleepless, and weakness of the extremities. Patient's brain computed tomography (CT) scan with contrast media showed large multilocular cystic lesions in right temporal lobe associated with two other smaller similar cystic lesions in centrum semiovale bilaterally. Abdominal sonography revealed intestinal mesenteric and a cardiac cy

Duplications of alimentary tract are uncommon congenital anomalies that are usually identified during the pediatric age. However, a minority of cases remain unsuspected until adulthood. They may be cystic or tubular in appearance and characteristically arise from the mesenteric border of the intestine. This paper reports a 37-year-old male with a huge cystic duplication of the ascending colon. In facing such a huge abdominal cystic tumor, differential diagnoses including duplication cyst, mesenteric cyst, choledochal cyst, giant diverticulum, and cystic tumor of the pancreas should be consider

Mesenteric cysts are tumoural formations which are generally benign in character, originate from the intestinal mesentery, and rarely cause abdominal tumours. They are asymptomatic unless a complication occurs, and thus may be incidentally diagnosed. Symptomatic cases may show up with findings such as abdominal pain, abdominal mass, nausea, and vomiting, and sometimes patients present with an acute abdomen. Treatment includes total excision of the cyst. We present the case of a male patient admitted to our emergency department with acute abdominal symptoms, who was subsequently found to have a

A case of mesenteric fibrosis secondary to post-traumatic mesenteric hematoma, resulting in duodenal stenosis eight years after the traumatic event is presented. A 50 year-old man was hospitalized with nausea and vomiting. An intraabdominal cystic mass was seen in abdominal ultrasonography and CT. Duodenum was found to be obstructed due to extrinsic compression in upper endoscopy. At laparotomy there was an intramesenteric traumatic cyst and fibrosis around the duodenum resulting in duodenal obstruction. After the cyst was unroofed a Roux-en-Y duodenojejunostomy was performed. Both early and l

Any cystic lesion occurring in the mesentery which may or may not extend into the retroperitoneum is referred to as a mesenteric cyst; they have an infrequent incidence rate in the pediatric age group. Definitive etiology of the cystic lymphatic malformations is still not known but there are multiple hypotheses. A young male child presented with acute onset abdominal pain and palpable intra-abdominal mass and ultrasonography revealed presence of two lesions, one of them as an encysted turbid fluid collection in the right lumbar region and the other as a dilated, tortuous, intercalated structur

PURPOSE: The aim of this study is to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery (LS) in management of abdominal lymphatic cyst (ALC) in children.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: Medical records of all patients undergoing LS for ALC at the National Hospital of Pediatrics, Hanoi, Vietnam, from May 2007 to June 2011 were reviewed. For LS, one umbilical port of 10 mm and up to three other 3-5-mm ports were used. Cystic fluid was aspirated prior to removal of the cyst. When intestinal resection was indicated, the mesenteric cyst with the bowel loop was delivered out of the abdomen

Mesenteric cystic lymphangiomas are benign tumours arising from the mesentery, and have no known aetiology. Patients might be discovered incidentally to have asymptomatic mesenteric cysts, or they can present with symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting. A 27-year-old man presented with vague abdominal pain, loss of appetite, postprandial fullness and significant weight loss. There was no lymphadenopathy, and abdominal examination was unremarkable. CT showed a mesenteric mass and a diagnosis of abdominal lymphoma was suggested. There was no evidence of pulmonary tuberculosis on chest X-ray

Mesenteric cysts are unusual benign tumours that include lymphangioma. Their clinical presentation is variable and acute symptoms can be produced due to complications. This tumour appears especially in childhood, and its prognosis after surgical removal is excellent. We present the case of a 15 year old female patient with symptoms of postprandial abdominal pain and palpation of smooth mass in hypogastrium. Radiological studies showed a big polilobular mass of cystic substance that included a portion of jejune with incomplete volvulus. The treatment was the removal of the cyst and a jejunal po
