Recent studies suggest the use of topical nitroglycerin (NTG) application in systemic sclerosis (SSc)-associated Raynaud phenomenon (RP). With the current study, we aimed to characterize for the first time the microvascular response to a NTG patch (Trinipatch® 5 mg/24 h) applied to the hand dorsum in patients with SSc using Laser Doppler imaging (LDI) at baseline and following a cold challenge. In the present study whole-exome sequencing using the Complete Genomics platform was employed to scan a proband from a split‑hand/split‑foot malformation (SHFM) 4 family. The missense mutation c.728G>A (p.Arg243Gln) in the TP63 gene was revealed to be associated with SHFM. Sanger sequencing confirmed the sequences of the proband and his father. Avulsion fractures of the radial wrist extensor from the metacarpal base are rare injuries, and have previously been reported in only a few papers. Avascular necrosis of the metacarpal head is a rare condition. Although the condition is associated with trauma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and steroid use, it can occur spontaneously without any obvious cause. Any metacarpal may be affected and the pathologic changes are similar to those described in other bones such as the femur. Fracture and luxation of the long fingers are particularly frequent in hand trauma. Untreated or poorly treated, they may leave highly disabling sequelae. The aim of treatment is two-fold: to repair the anatomical lesion and to obtain movement as rapidly as possible, the only means of avoiding joint stiffening. This article discusses a case of an aneurysmal bone cyst in the finger of a male patient. Such tumors are rarely located in the hand. Although rare, an aneurysmal bone cyst is the only benign bone tumor which can extend across a growth plate into the epiphysis. Diagnostic and therapeutic features of the cyst are discussed in this article.

The anatomical, functional and aesthetic results of this operation in a young woman were excellent. We used a microtractor according to Ilizarov's in order to achieve methodology 22 mm of lengthening of the fourth metacarpal bone of the left hand. We report an Algerian family in which four generations show polydactyly with variable numbers of metacarpals and phalanges. The extraordinary rearrangements of the metacarpals and phalanges shown in the X-rays are most unusual. The family is highly consanguineous. The mode of inheritance appears to be dominant with reduced penetrance and variable expression.

Two cases of antebrachial island flap including the radial bone have been presented. In the first patient it was used to fill infected defect of skin and the 2nd metacarpal bone. In the second patient, the operation was indicated by shortening (2 cm) of the 3rd metacarpal bone after its intraarticular fracture. In both patients, the bone and skin grafts healed.

The hook is positioned behind the small central fragment and compression exerted between the hook and a plate attached to the opposite side of the base of the first metacarpal bone using an adjustable nut, thus holding the fragments together. The reduction device simplifies X-ray controls and internal fixation with Kirschner wires.

Occult fractures of the carpals and metacarpals occur frequently and are associated with major disability. The cross-sectional display and superior resolution of CT are well suited to the demonstration of these fractures. Congenital fusion of the carpal bones is fairly common and may be associated with other congenital deformities in the hand. This report deals with an unusual congenital anomaly of the little fingers associated with fusion of the triquetrum and lunate. Both little fingers were adducted and rotated giving crude resemblance to thumbs on the ulnar borders of the hands. The deformity was easily corrected by osteotomy through the base of the fifth metacarpals.

A case of open carpo-metacarpal dislocation complicated by dislocation of the os trapesium is reported in this paper. The patient's wrist healed with good functional results, despite a partial mistake in diagnosis. The authors draw attention to the fact, that X-ray films taken at admission must be analysed carefully and intraoperative X-rays films must be taken.
