Research on a machine learning-based adaptive and efficient screening model for psychological symptoms of community correctional prisoners.

Community correction institutions in China frequently employ the Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) and the health survey brief (SF-12) as primary tools for psychological assessment of community correctional prisoners. However, in practical application, the SCL-90 Checklist faces issues such as complex item numbers, overall low cultural level of the subjects, and insufficient professional level of the administrators. The SF-12 health survey brief, as a preliminary screening tool, although only has 12 questions, to some extent simplifies the evaluation process and improves work efficiency, it is pro

Psychological distress, wellbeing and resilience: modelling adolescent mental health profiles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There has been concern about adolescent mental health during the pandemic. The current study examined adolescent mental health during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK. Using indicator of psychological distress, wellbeing and resilience, latent profile analysis was used to identify homogeneous mental health groups among young people aged 13-24 (N = 1971). Multinomial logistic regression was then used to examine which sociodemographic and psychosocial variables predicted latent class membership. Four classes were found. The largest class (Class 1, 37.2%) was characterised by

Using the Complex Network Model to Associate Nutritional, Psychological, and Physical Parameters and Aspects of Sleep with Depression Symptoms.

Background/Objectives: Major depressive disorder is a significant public health concern linked to factors such as a low-quality diet, a sedentary lifestyle, and poor sleep quality, all of which contribute to its development; nevertheless, the existing literature lacks a comprehensive framework to effectively integrate these interrelated influences. Methods: To address this gap, we conducted a questionnaire-based study involving 411 individuals aged 18 to 74 and employed a weighted complex network model to clarify the associations among nutritional factors, physical activity levels, psychologic

Examining Individual Differences in Wellbeing, Anxiety and Depression in Psoriasis Using a Clinically Modified Buddhist Psychological Model.

Psoriasis patients can experience a range of psychosocial difficulties, which can lead to issues with wellbeing, anxiety and depression. Mindfulness-based interventions have positive impacts on these outcomes; however, there is a need to identify the mechanisms of action of such interventions. This study attempts to do so by examining individual differences in psoriasis patients' wellbeing, anxiety and depression using a clinically modified Buddhist psychological model (CBPM). Psoriasis patients (N = 285) and (N = 209) completed measures of each CBPM component at time 1 and 2. SEM analyses fou

Multi-Faceted Constructs in Abnormal Psychology: Implications of the Bifactor S - 1 Model for Individual Clinical Assessment.

Burns et al. (this issue) have shown that the application of the symmetrical bifactor model to attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) symptoms leads to anomalous and inconsistent results across different rater groups. In contrast to the symmetrical bifactor model, applications of the bifactor S-1 model showed consistent and theoretically well-founded results. The implications of the bifactor S-1 model for individual clinical assessment are discussed. It is shown that individual factor scores of the bifactor S-1 model reveal important information

[An integrative research model for child and adolescent psychiatry bringing together biological, psychological and social research approaches].

After some general remarks on the current situation of child and adolescent psychiatric research in Germany, a research concept is presented which in the course of 30 years of testing and further development has proven to be successful both in the inauguration of scientific projects, as well as in the qualification of trainees and co-workers. The nucleus of this concept is a research unit that is to a large extent independent of the daily health care routine. Some of the unit staff members are natural scientists holding permanent positions, complemented by a secondary labour force of young doc

Bodies under stress-a psychological parallel mediation model between daily LGBTQ + heterosexism and eating disorder risk.

PURPOSE: LGBTQ + people have shown health disparities compared to heterosexual and cisgender people in eating disorders. How these disparities are determined, however, is an understudied area. Through the use of a psychological mediation framework, this study aims to explore how daily heterosexist experiences related to one's LGBTQ + identity may determine eating disorder risk. METHODS: 376 LGBTQ + people from Italy responded to self-report questionnaires regarding daily heterosexist experiences, eating behaviors and associated factors in an online anonymous survey. Descriptive, bivariate and

Re-engagement centered on "truth" seeking: A grounded psychological model of sustained attention to crime-news short videos.

Short-video feeds often introduce users to crime news incidentally, yet some unfolding cases become objects of repeated return. Existing research explains crime-content appeal, incidental exposure, platform continuance, and information seeking, but less clearly how an initially encountered case becomes a sustained, case-specific object of attention across sources and updates. This study develops an event-centered psychological account of that transition. Semi-structured group and individual interviews with 29 Chinese short-video users (21 adults and eight adolescents) were analyzed using const

Analysis of factors alleviating the psychological anxiety of transfer students in postgraduate re-exam based on structural equation model.

BACKGROUND: Intense competition in China's postgraduate admission has resulted in a large number of students participating in the re-examination transfer process. High uncertainty, time pressure, and information asymmetry during transfer are linked to severe psychological anxiety that impairs students' mental health and academic adaptation. Empirical research on the anxiety mechanism and intervention paths for this group remains limited. METHODS: Based on social cognitive theory (SCT), this study constructed a structural equation model (SEM) involving personal factors, external support, self-
