Composite Hemangioendothelioma (CHE) is a new entity classified under the Heman gioendothelioma (HE) group of tumours. It is an extremely rare vascular neoplasm of low to moderate malignancy. Very few cases have been described in the literature. We herein report a case of CHE arising in a 31-year-old male who presented with a history of painless slow growing swelling on upper back since 1year. Clinically, the surface of firm and mobile swelling of 1.5x1.5cm showed focal ulcerations. The histopathological findings were consistent with the diagnosis of composite hemangioendothelioma. The patient

BACKGROUND: Primary breast angiosarcoma is a rare neoplasm; breast angiosarcoma patients under 20 years old are extremely rare. The prognosis is often poor due to a high relapse rate after surgical resection.
CASE REPORT: We report on a case of a 17-year-old woman suffering from a primary breast angiosarcoma, associated with the local recurrence of a right-breast angiosarcoma 86 months after mastectomy. She received extensive local excision and transplantation of an adjacent skin flap. The post-operation diagnosis was angiosarcoma of histological grade III.
CONCLUSIONS: This is a rare case a

Cystic mesothelioma, also known as benign multicystic peritoneal mesothelioma (BMPM), is a rare neoplasm and one of the five main histological types of peritoneal mesothelioma. Although it is usually considered benign histologically, it is increasingly accepted as a 'borderline malignancy' because the local recurrence rate is high. It is more common in middle-aged women and is generally asymptomatic. Considering that BMPM is often found in the pelvis, it is difficult to differentiate from other pelvic and abdominal lesions, such as cystic ovarian masses, especially mucinous cystadenoma-adenoca

BACKGROUND: Inverted papilloma is an uncommon neoplasm in the nasal cavity. It is a histologically benign tumor, but has a high recurrence and local invasion rate. In addition, nasal or skull base lymphoma is another rare neoplasm. The coexistence of these two tumors in one case makes the diagnosis and related treatment difficult.
CASE SUMMARY: We report a case of an immunocompetent patient, who had a history of inverted papilloma 20 years ago. The patient presented with an infiltrated mass lesion in the nasal cavity with extension to the frontal base. The repeated biopsies revealed inverted

A five-year-old, entire female Arabian horse with a 6-month history of a non-painful nodule on the conjunctiva of the right eye was evaluated. Ophthalmological examination showed a firm, smooth and fleshy conjunctival mass that raised the suspicion of a conjunctival neoplasm. Histological evaluations showed that the mass was composed of an endophytic growth consisting of numerous long papillary projections of hyperplastic stratified squamous epithelium supported by thin fibrovascular stalks. Typical features of squamous cell carcinoma with disorganized cell growth and infiltration of surroundi

Epithelioid angiomyolipoma (EAML) of the kidney is an uncommon neoplasm with malignant potential. It can occur sporadically or be associated with tuberous sclerosis. EAML is a monotypic variant of angiomyolipoma (AML), which is classified as neoplasm of the perivascular epithelioid cell or perivascular epithelioid cell tumor. Due to its epithelioid nature and paucity of fat components, unlike classic AML, which has abundant adipose tissue with characteristic features on CT scans, it is difficult to distinguish EAML from renal cell carcinoma and fat-poor AML on CT or MRI preoperatively, which m

BACKGROUND: Mammary and extra-mammary Paget disease is a rare form of intra-epithelial glandular neoplasm which is characteristically recurrent and necessitates multiple excisions that have an important impact on morbidity. Local immuno-modulating treatments have been applied with promising results, but the local immune markers of Paget disease have not been studied.
AIM OF THE STUDY: To investigate the local immune micro-environment of Paget disease.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Sixty-four specimens from 41 patients, including cases with multiple recurrences and underlying primary neoplasm, have

Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare spindle cell neoplasm, originally described in the pleural cavity. It may also occur in extrapleural organs like adrenal gland. We present a case of a fifty two-year old Arab man who has been admitted in urology department for right lumbar pain. A suspect malignant adrenal mass has been detected. He underwent right adrenalectomy and histologically it was SFT. The follow-up three years after surgery is unremarkable. The prognosis of SFT after surgery is unpredictable. A long term follow-up is mandatory to detect local recurrence or distant metastasis.

In this study, a case of a 56-year-old woman with cutaneous metaplastic carcinoma in the neck is reported. It harbored basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and sebaceous carcinoma, as well as osteosarcoma (with fibroblastic, osteoblastic, aneurysmal bone cyst-like, and chondroblastic patterns). To our knowledge, the literature does not mention sebaceous carcinoma in cutaneous metaplastic carcinoma. Epidemiology and intact mismatch repair proteins of this case support sporadic pathogenesis for this neoplasm. The patient has been followed up for 3 years after surgery with free margins,

Granular cell tumor is a rare benign neoplasm most commonly appears in the head and neck region, especially in the tongue, cheek mucosa, and palate. Occurrence in limbs is even rarer. These tumors account for approximately 0.5% of all soft tissue tumors. Granular cell tumor can also affect other organs including skin, breast, and lungs. Local recurrence and metastasis is potentially higher in malignant forms with poor prognosis in respect to the benign counterparts. The average diameter of the tumor is usually about 2-3 cm. We report a granular cell tumor in the leg with an unusual size.

Unusual presentation of adenoid cystic carcinoma of the maxillary antrum. Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare tumour which affects mainly the major and accessory salivary glands. It is an aggressive neoplasm characterized by early neural invasion and a high incidence of local recurrence and distant metastases, which may develop years after the initial resection. Surgery followed by radiotherapy seems to be the best treatment. Based on a well-illustrated case of extensive maxillary ACC involving the palate, orbit floor, and pterygo-palatine fossa, we discuss the prognosis and the importanc

Olfactory neuroblastoma is a rare, malignant neoplasm arising from the olfactory epithelium. It has an aggressive biological behavior that is characterized by local recurrence, atypical distant metastasis, and poor long-term prognosis. The incidence of cervical lymph node metastasis in olfactory neuroblastoma is variable, and treatment modalities are controversial. Moreover, few reports have been published concerning retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis from olfactory neuroblastoma. We present two cases of olfactory neuroblastoma with retropharyngeal lymph node metastasis. In addition, we pro

Penile melanoma in situ is a very rare malignant neoplasm. Surgical treatment is the standard approach, although there are no recommendations regarding the extent and best technique. A 28-year-old male presented with a dark-brown macule on the glans, whose biopsy revealed melanoma in situ. A local excision followed by a partial resurfacing was performed, with follow-up revealing no sign of recurrence and good quality of life. Melanoma is a very dangerous tumor due to its metastization potential. The main challenge is early diagnosis. Surgical treatment is the best approach, although it is diff

A 74-year-old man presented with right flank pain and a palpable mass in the left flank. Blood pressure was normal. Contrastenhanced computed tomography (CT) showed a 17 × 16 × 12 cm retroperitoneal mass over the left kidney, solid and heterogeneous. There were also 3 retro aortic lymph nodes and bilateral renal lithiasis. Twenty four-hour urinary metanephrines and normetanephrines were normal. The patient underwent a resection of the mass with left adrenalectomy by a lumbar incision. Histological findings revealed an adrenal oncocytic neoplasm (AON) with uncertain malignant potential. Six mon

Urachal carcinoma is a rare neoplasm of the urinary bladder. We present two cases. Case 1, a male patient, noted urinary frequency and micturition pain for two months. The surgical specimen from a partial cystectomy represented a transitional cell carcinoma that developed from a urachal diverticulum. Case 2, a female patient, had a long history of infraumbilical mass without umbilical discharge or urinary symptom. Pathologically, the mass showed a papillary adenocarcinoma arising from a urachal cyst. Both patients received successive en bloc operation. Local recurrence and peritoneal carcinoma

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is widely accepted as an established method in the diagnostic imaging of diseases of the female pelvis. This review article describes the role of MRI in the diagnosis of neoplasms of the vulva and the vagina. MRI is useful in the pretherapeutic staging of vulval and vaginal neoplasms in order to assess tumor size, local tumor extent and presence of lymph node metastases. Further indications for MRI are the diagnosis of posttherapeutic changes and tumor recurrence.

Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs) are rare neoplasms that include thymomas, thymic carcinomas (TCs), and thymic neuroendocrine neoplasms (TNENs). These three tumor categories differ in aggressiveness, the incidence of recurrence after resection, the pattern of recurrence, and survival outcomes. Owing to the tumor's rarity, randomized trials have not been performed in the initial treatment setting. Furthermore, such trials have never been performed in recurrent cases after the initial resection. Thymomas have indolent characteristics, with a wide range of biological spectra compared to TCs and TN

PURPOSE: Perforation of the bladder during transurethral resection is a worrisome complication for most urologists. Little is known about the consequences of seeding of tumor cells into the peritoneum or retroperitoneum. We reviewed several hospital patient databases as well as the literature to determine the outcome of such situations.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a local multi-institutional case and MEDLINE review using key words, such as bladder neoplasm, neoplasm seeding, perforation, rupture, transurethral resection, peritonitis and tumor. We also contacted several urologists and

BACKGROUND: Underwater endoscopic mucosal resection (UEMR) has been developed as an effective endoscopic intervention for colon, rectum, and duodenum neoplasms. However, there are no comprehensive reports regarding the stomach, and its safety and efficacy are unknown. We aimed to examine the feasibility of UEMR for gastric neoplasms in patients with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
METHODS: We retrospectively extracted data of patients with FAP who underwent endoscopic resection (ER) for gastric neoplasms at Osaka International Cancer Institute from February 2009 to December 2018. Elevat
