Problems with tin and copper antifouling compounds have highlighted the need to develop new environmentally friendly antifouling coatings. The inverted chromosome 16 is commonly associated with acute myelomonocytic leukaemia (AML) M4 with bone marrow eosinophilia. Cytogenetic identification of the inverted chromosome 16 can be difficult. To help identify the inversion in bone marrow samples from patients referred for the diagnosis of AML-M4, we applied the molecular cytogenetic technique of chromosome painting using chromosome 16 p-arm paint. A survey of occupational dermatoses, based on a questionnaire, clinical examination and patch testing, was carried out among present and former employees in a plant producing binders for glues and paints. The binders are chemically based on vinyl acetate and/or acrylates. Preservatives are needed and those based on methylchloroisothiazolinone/methylisothiazolinone (MCI/MI) are the most commonly used. A histological study of the response in the pulps of human teeth to cervical restorations made with a composite resin following etching of the enamel for 2 minutes with 50 per cent phosphoric acid showed moderate inflammation after 14 days. Three specimens showed normal structure after 98 days. Teeth restored without etching showed only slight inflammation.

The analysis of wall painting fragments recovered in the "agro centuriato" of Julia Concordia has been carried out by using Scanning Electron Microscopy equipped with an EDS microanalysis detector (SEM-EDS), Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-Ray powder Diffraction (XRD). The pigments used have been identified and the data obtained suggest the presence of three rustic villas richly decorated also with Egyptian blue. The presence of white of aragonite suggest that these villas were decorated during the Imperial Age, in agreement with the recovery of high quality materials and a bronze statue.
