Cost-effectiveness analysis of radiofrequency therapy versus surgery for the treatment of women with urinary incontinence: a long-term evaluation in Iran.

BACKGROUND: Urinary incontinence (UI) imposes significant economic burdens on women. Evidence comparing the long-term cost-effectiveness of standard surgery versus minimally invasive radiofrequency (RF) therapy is scarce, particularly in resource-limited settings. We evaluated the cost-utility of surgery versus RF for UI from the Iranian health system perspective. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: A lifetime Markov model compared costs (in purchasing power parity, PPP) and quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) of surgery and RF. We used local cost data and international clinical parameters. The incr

Medical Therapy, Radiofrequency Ablation, or Cryoballoon Ablation as First-Line Treatment for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation: Interpreting Efficacy Through the Shiny Method.

In patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, cryoballoon ablation (CBA) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA) represent two therapeutic approaches supported by increasing literature. While both these ablation techniques play a role during different stages of the patient's therapeutic pathway, their use as first-line is being increasingly recognized. This scoping review comparatively examined the evidence of effectiveness for these two ablation techniques. Our analysis was limited to the evaluation of the end-point of time to recurrence of atrial fibrillation (or other forms of atrial arrhythmi

Radiofrequency ablation for markedly incompetent perforators versus compression therapy in the management of post-phelebtic venous ulcers: A randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Venus ulcers developed mainly due to reflux of incompetent venous valves in perforating veins. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In this randomized controlled trial, 119 patients recruited over two years, with post-phelebtic venous leg ulcers, were randomly assigned into one of two groups: either to receive radiofrequency ablation of markedly incompetent perforators (Group A, n = 62 patients) or to receive conventional compression therapy (Group B, n = 57 patients). Follow-up duration required for ulcer healing continued for 24 months post randomization. RESULTS: Statistically significant sh

Efficacy, Safety, and Predictors of Response to Pulsed Radiofrequency Therapy for Acute Zoster-Related Trigeminal Neuralgia Patients: A Multicenter Retrospective Study.

BACKGROUND: The scarcity of an effective and safe therapy to relieve acute zoster-related trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and preventing it from developing into trigeminal postherpetic neuralgia is well known. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a novel and safe, minimally neuro-destructive technique for the treatment of acute zoster-related TN, which attains satisfactory pain relief. However, this result is only reported by a few single-center researches. In addition, no study has reported the predictive factors of the analgesic effect for PRF treatment on acute zoster-related TN patients. OBJECTIVES:

Durable LAA isolation combining pulsed field ablation and radiofrequency linear lesions in a patient with a therapy refractory left atrial appendage tachycardia.

BACKGROUND: Treating atrial tachycardia (AT) originating from left atrial appendage (LAA) needs sometimes electrical isolation of LAA. We report a case of AT originating from LAA successfully treated with electrical isolation using the novel lattice-tip pulsed-field/radiofrequency ablation (PFA/RFA) catheter. A 55-year-old female patient with a history of three focal ablative attempts for a highly symptomatic AT originating from the LAA in different centers was admitted to our department for the recurrence of the clinical tachycardia. Electrical isolation of the LAA (LAAEI) was successfully pe
