4 girls with severe allergic contact dermatitis from a brand of athletic tape and a cobbler with allergic contact dermatitis from leather adhesive are presented. Alkylphenol resin with unknown chemical structure had been compounded in both products. One of the girls developed foot dermatitis later from the adhesive used on the inside of new sneakers. By patch testing and chemical analysis of alkylphenol resin and the products, the 5 patients were given a specific diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis from PTBP-FR.

Eleven patients who had taken overdoses of barbiturates, glutethimide, tricyclic antidepressants, and chloroquine were treated by resin haemoperfusion using an R-004 haemoperfusion cartridge containing XAD-4 resin. All but one patient showed rapid clinical recovery and the drugs were cleared rapidly from the plasma. There were few complications. In an ongoing search for new and improved dental materials, researchers have developed restorative products which are improved versions of traditional formulations. This has been especially true in the area of glass ionomers. One such modification has been the development of a material, termed resin ionomer. This material is less technique sensitive and exhibits low oral solubility; it may be light activated and finished at the time of placement. This article presents the clinical application of such a material with emphasis on its use in subgingival and periodontal applications.
