Fifteen endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomies (DCRs) were performed without the use of silicone stents. These patients were followed up for an average of eight months. This procedure was successful in 87% of cases as measured by patients' relief of symptoms and endoscopic visualisation of a middle meatal ostium draining the lacrimal sac. Endoscopic DCR without silicone stenting compares favourably with other techniques described in the literature which use silicone stents. It does not have the disadvantage of complications associated with these stents.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the efficacy of silicone gel sheeting in the treatment of fresh and long-standing hypertrophic and keloid scars. All subjects applied the gel sheeting in the same fashion and wore it for twelve to twenty-four hours per day for at least two months. After at least six months' follow-up, twenty of thirty-six (56 percent) chronic scars were improved. The risk associated with silicone oil removal after complex vitreoretinal surgery is unclear. Therefore, a cohort of 87 consecutive cases of silicone oil removal were analyzed. Eyes with attached retina before silicone oil removal with a follow-up of at least 5 months were included into the study. Profound hypotony associated with loss of vision complicating bilateral chronic uveitis was managed in five consecutive patients with vitrectomy and silicone oil injection.
