BACKGROUND: Ectopic pancreas is an infrequent submucosal tumor in the gastrointestinal tract defined as a pancreatic tissue lacking vascular or anatomic continuity with the main body of the pancreas. Meckel's diverticulum may sometimes present as an intraluminal polypoid mass causing small bowel obstruction; however, gastrointestinal bleeding due to Meckel's diverticulum with a polypoid lesion is rare. A 14-year-old girl presented with tarry stool and syncope in our hospital. Laboratory examination showed iron-deficiency anemia with a low hemoglobin level of 5.8 g/dl. BACKGROUND: Meckel's diverticulum (MD) is one of the most common congenital gastrointestinal malformations. It is difficult to make a preoperative diagnosis of MD. To date, few data are available describing the diagnosis of MD by double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) and capsule endoscopy (CE).
METHODS: To assess the value of DBE in the diagnosis of MD and comparatively evaluate the diagnostic yield of DBE and CE for MD. A single-center study was performed on patients with a confirmed diagnosis of MD by surgery and postoperative pathology between January 2003 and December 2011.

BACKGROUND: Intestinal lipomas are rare benign gastrointestinal (GI) tumors, usually asymptomatic, but may become symptomatic as the result of some complications such as intussusception, intestinal obstruction, volvulus or bleeding. They can occur at any site along the entire GI tract, more frequent in colon and rarely in small intestine. The patient reported here is a very rare case of jejunal lipoma, ulcerated and intussuscepted, diagnosed in an adult investigated for a chronic iron deficiency anemia (IDA), and successfully managed by segmental jejunal resection.
