Recapitulation of the microstructural organization of cellular and extracellular components found in natural tissues is an important but challenging feat for tissue engineering, which demands innovation across both process and material fronts. In this work, a highly versatile ultrasound-assisted biofabrication (UAB) approach is demonstrated that utilizes radiation forces generated by superimposing ultrasonic bulk acoustic waves to rapidly organize arrays of cells and other biomaterial additives within single and multilayered hydrogel constructs. UAB is used in conjunction with a novel hybrid b

Several hollow organs perform various crucial functions in the body and must be replaced, repaired, or augmented in many disease conditions. Fabrication of tissue analogues to these hollow organs is incredibly challenging. Still, recent advancements in biofabrication have allowed researchers to pursue the development of several hollow organs such as blood vessels, esophagus, trachea, urethra, and others. Materials like collagen, alginate, elastin, silk, fibrin, etc., have been predominantly used for organ development. However, the focus has been duly shifted toward decellularized extracellular

Whole-tissue level spatial proteomics provides critical insights into region-specific biological regulations but remains challenging. Previously, we introduced the micro-scaffold assisted spatial proteomics (MASP) concept for whole-tissue mapping. However, this prototype required substantial development in spatial resolution, practicality, and throughput for practical application. Here we present a next-generation MASP technique (hex-MASP) featuring i) a new design of hexagonal-micro-wells fabricated with optimized projection micro-stereolithography 3D-printing, achieving high spatial resoluti

Osteoarthritis and metastatic bone cancers create pathological oxidative environments characterized by elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS). ROS impair bone regeneration by degrading the scaffold and suppressing mineralization. To address these challenges, we fabricated thermoresponsive scaffolds based on poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) incorporating in situ-grown nanohydroxyapatite on graphene oxide nanoscrolls (nHA-GONS) using stereolithography (SLA). Three scaffold formulations were studied: pure PNIPAAm (PNP), PNIPAAm with 5 wt.% nHA-GONS (P5G), and PNIPAAm with 5 wt.% nHA-GONS rei

We describe a new approach to the planning of treatment and subsequent operation on a patient with syngnathia and severe mandibular retrognathism. To facilitate a large mandibular advancement we applied alloplastic temporomandibular joint (TMJ) prostheses to the coronoid processes after anticlockwise rotation of the mandible. To the best of our knowledge this is the first documented case of its kind.

A three-dimensional (3D) clinical simulation model was developed for ocular ultrasonography training, and its pedagogical potential was evaluated. Model design was based on computed tomography data of feline skulls, which were processed and segmented using specialized 3D modeling software. During this process, Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files were produced, corresponding to the three main model components: a feline skull and two eyeballs, one representing normal anatomy and the other simulating a total retinal detachment. All components were printed using a stereolithography printer.

BACKGROUND: Early reconstruction of the skull represents the gold standard after resection of bone infiltrating cranial tumors. Customized hydroxyapatite porous ceramics are an excellent option for covering skull bone defects. The authors illustrate the surgical technique and investigate the effectiveness of the "one-step" procedure in terms of aesthetic results and early degree of osteointegration.
METHOD: A prospective study was conducted, including all patients operated on for skull bone infiltrating lesions at our center between January 2020 and June 2022. Stereolithography was the techni

The treatment of infants with trisomy 21 (TS21) with a myostimulation plate can improve their development and quality of life. The manufacture of these plates requires an accurate cast of the maxilla, and their efficacy relies on their stability and retention. As such, the quality of the impression is a determining factor. The lack of commercially available stock trays for infants with TS21 creates difficulties, including inadequate impression quality and the risk of inhaling impression material. The present technique simplifies impression making for infants with TS21 from 3 months of age to w
