In this study, surfactin was studied for the first time as a corrosion inhibitor for carbon steel in neutral media. Its physicochemical and colloid-chemical properties were thoroughly investigated, including surface tension, electrical conductivity, and critical micelle concentration (CMC). The antiradical activity of surfactin was evaluated via cyclic voltammetry using the DPPH radical, confirming its antioxidant potential. The utility of transcutaneous oxygen tension measurements in selection of a reliable amputation level was evaluated. Measurements were made at the proposed level of amputation in 37 patients, 22 of whom underwent major limb amputation and in 15 amputation was confined to the forefoot or toes. Gum arabic finds extensive application and typically undergoes sterilization prior to utilization in the food industry. This study explored the impact of steam sterilization temperature and duration on the physicochemical and emulsification characteristics of gum arabic, accompanied by proposed mechanisms elucidating observed effects. This paper presents a spectral analysis of the response of a fluid containing bubbles to the motions of a wall oscillating normal to itself. First, a Fourier analysis of the Rayleigh-Plesset equation is used to obtain an approximate solution for the nonlinear effects in the oscillation of a single bubble in an infinite fluid. Chlorpromazine added to the dialysate improved the ultrafiltration and increased peritoneal clearances of urea and inulin. These results were postulated to be due to the narrowed stagnant dialysate fluid layer by the surface-active property of chlorpromazine. The study suggested another way to improve large solute (possibly uremic toxin) transport by using substances that facilitate convective transport. Intraperitoneal chlorpromazine increased the peritoneal dialysis efficiency.

Six biosurfactant-producing bacteria were isolated from hydrocarbon contaminated soils in Sfax, Tunisia. Isolates were screened for biosurfactant production by different conventional methods including hemolytic activity, surface tension reduction, drop-collapsing and oil displacement tests. The growth of biological tissue is sensitive to the physical properties of the environment.
