Hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) is used as an adjunct in the treatment of radiation injury at many sites, including the mandible, larynx, chest wall, bladder, and rectum. In these disorders, HBO2 is effective in stimulating neovascularization and reducing fibrosis. No previous publications report the application of HBO2 to radiation injuries of the extremities. Thirteen boys who had constitutional delayed puberty (CDP) were treated with a combination of short- and long-acting testosterone esters (testosterone propionate, testosterone phenylpropionate, testosterone isocaproate). Mean age at the onset of treatment was 14.9 +/- 0.6 years and bone age delay was -2.7 +/- 0.9 years. An intramuscular dose of 200 mg testosterone was administered 4 times at 3-week intervals and the treated CDP boys were followed for 2 years. Five patients, recently treated for esophageal ruptures, provided a spectrum of "late" perforations. Treatment was individualized for each patient and ranged from suture closure of the perforation to esophagectomy. Four of the 5 patients survived and now have no dietary restrictions. Falciparum malaria is highly endemic in sub-Saharan Africa. The disease is caused by the intra-cellular parasite Plasmodium within erythrocytes. The recommended treatment is artemisinin-based combination which is efficient and safe. In some patients, artemisinin can cause hemolysis weeks after treatment, presenting with severe anemia. Most of the published cases were following intravenous treatment. We present a case of a falciparum malaria patient with hemolysis and severe anemia two weeks after oral treatment with artemisinin-based combination therapy.

METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the records of all adult patients with GBS treated at Shamir Medical Center (SMC) from 2006 to 2018.
