The inversion of the uterus is a rare complication of the puerperium and much rarer during the non-puerperal period. The most common cause of non-puerperal inversion is a submucosa leiomyoma; however, identification can be difficult. Herein, we present a case of pedunculated uterine leiomyoma that causes uterus inversion in a 30-year-old virgin woman with a correct diagnosis; a hysterectomy was prevented for the patient.

Uterine inversion is an abnormal protrusion of internal surface of relaxed uterus through the vaginal orifice. Its causes can be broadly classified as puerperal and non-puerperal with puerperal uterine inversion more common than non-puerperal uterine inversion. Acute inversions occurring immediately, or within 24 hours post-partum are the most common type. Chronic Uterine Inversions (CUI) occurring more than four weeks after the delivery are rare identities. There differential diagnosis includes prolapsed fibroids and endometrial polyp. Chronic nature of these inversions makes the restoration

Inversion of the uterus is quite a rare obstetric (puerperal) or gynecological (non-puerperal) condition. Non-puerperal type may be benign or malign mass induced or idiopathic. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case with a large review of literature of uterine inversion in a patient without sexual experience. We report the case of a 52-year-old, unmarried virgo woman, affected by schizophrenia, was referred to our emergency room for evidence of a mass outside of the vaginal introitus, combined with vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. The patient underwent vaginal myoma resection

Uterine inversion is a rare condition that refers to the collapse of the fundus into the uterine cavity and occurs in puerperal and non-puerperal conditions. Non-puerperal uterine inversion is particularly infrequent. Diagnosing non-puerperal uterine inversion is often challenging because it resembles vaginal or cervical tumors and pelvic organ prolapse. Furthermore, this condition alters the anatomical structure of pelvic organs, thereby complicating diagnosis and treatment, and potentially leading to misdiagnosis with grave consequences. We report a case of a postmenopausal woman who present

The present report describes an unusual case of recurrent puerperal uterine inversion causing major postpartum hemorrhage. Blood replacement, oxytocin, and ergot therapy along with manual reduction failed to prevent immediate recurrence, but treatment with 15(S)-15-methyl prostaglandin F2 alpha (Prostin 15M) and uterine packing were successful. It is recommended that 15(S)-15-methyl prostaglandin F2 alpha be available in all obstetric suites for the management of similar emergencies.

Acute uterine inversion is a rare life-threatening complication of third stage of labour. In majority of cases, exact aetiology is unknown. It should be strongly suspected when the triad of haemorrhage, shock and severe abdominal pain with bearing down sensation is present after delivery of placenta. It can occur even after active management of third stage of labour. Diagnosis is essentially clinical. Expeditious manual repositioning of uterus and simultaneous liberal use of uterotonics is the management of choice. This was successfully attempted in the present case where a 26-year-old multipa

Uterine inversion is characterized by the folding of the fundus into the uterine cavity. While infrequent, it ranks among the most serious complications of childbirth, posing a significant risk of mortality primarily due to hemorrhage and shock. Retained placenta after vaginal delivery is diagnosed when placenta does not spontaneously deliver within 18-60 min. Manual placenta can be considered first if retained placenta occurs. A 29-year-old woman with parity status P2A0 came to maternal emergency referred from the first health care provider with severe post-partum hemorrhage after delivering

Wnt-7a gene not only guides the development of the anterior-posterior axis in the female reproductive tract, but also plays a critical role in uterine smooth muscle pattering and maintenance of adult uterine function. This gene is also responsive to changes in the levels of sex steroid hormone in the female reproductive tract. To explore the molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma, the expression of Wnt7a mRNA in the leiomyoma has been assessed. RT-PCR was performed on uterine leiomyomas and the adjacent myometria. Of 30 cases of leiomyomas studied, 67% showed a d

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Acute postpartum uterine inversion is a rare but life-threatening obstetric emergency that can rapidly lead to catastrophic hemorrhage and shock, especially in a resource-limited setting. This case report highlights the importance of prompt diagnosis, timely referral, and multidisciplinary management in achieving favorable maternal outcomes.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 25-year-old multiparous woman developed acute complete uterine inversion after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery at a lower-level healthcare facility. Initial resuscitative measures were initiated, and att

Acute puerperal uterine inversion is a rare but life-threatening obstetric emergency, with a reported incidence ranging from approximately 1 in 2,000 to 1 in 20,000 deliveries. It is characterized by inward displacement of the uterine fundus into or through the endometrial cavity following childbirth. This report highlights a case of acute uterine inversion in a 43-year-old multiparous woman who developed severe postpartum hemorrhage after vaginal delivery. Physical examination revealed a protruding mass through the cervix, consistent with complete uterine inversion. Following prompt fluid res

Two cases of non-puerperal incomplete uterine inversion due to large sub-mucous fundal fibroid are presented. This is rare and the diagnosis is often difficult. In both the cases diagnosis was made only during surgery.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate the effect of inverse planning parameters on dose-volume indices in brachytherapy for uterine cervical cancer.
METHODS: Fourteen consecutive patients with cervical cancer who received intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy (IC/ISBT) were selected. Tandem, ovoid, and interstitial needles were used in all cases. The evaluation plans were recalculated from the first fraction of clinical brachytherapy plans. The correlation between the 11 dose optimization parameters of inverse planning and the 13 dose-volume indices was evaluated. The parameters wer

BACKGROUND: Uterine inversion is a clinical condition characterized by the folding of the uterine fundus into the uterine cavity or beyond the cervix. Chronic uterine inversions that manifest seven years after delivery are extremely rare, despite the fact that both acute and chronic uterine inversions are infrequent. Unlike uterine inversion during parturition, which can be promptly managed, chronic uterine inversion poses a diagnostic and management challenge. We, herein, report a patient who was managed and followed at our institution for chronic uterine inversion.

The probability of rhabdomyosarcoma occurring in the cervix is less than 0.5% and may be associated with a pathogenic dicer 1, ribonuclease III (DICER1) gene variation. Tumour-induced hypercoagulability and high levels of cancer antigen (CA) 125 are risk factors for cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). In addition, although nonpuerperal uterine inversion is very rare and is usually caused by leiomyomas from the uterus, large cervical masses can also be the cause. This case report describes a 24-year-old woman with uterine inversion caused by an embryonic cervical rhabdomyosarcoma that pres

The objective for the study was to analysis the epidemiology of adenosarcoma, and independent prognostic factors and impact of lymph node dissection (LND) of uterine adenosarcoma. Cases of patients with primary adenosarcoma were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database from 2000 to 2016. Overall survival was analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank test. The differences in baseline covariates between the 2 groups were adjusted by inverse probability of treatment weighting method. The prognostic factors were identified by univariate and multivariate

BACKGROUND: Uterine inversion is a rare but known complication following parturition and may prove fatal due to neurogenic shock or postpartum hemorrhage if not corrected immediately. The incidence is variable, occurring in 1 in 2000 to 1 in 50,000 deliveries, as reported in the past. Nowadays, the incidence is declining due to better antenatal care and increasing institutional deliveries. However, in a developing country such as India, due to cultural and financial reasons, most of the deliveries are still being conducted by untrained birth attendants ("dais") who have sparse knowledge of oxy

Uterine inversion is a life-threatening medical emergency, which can result in fatal shock and sudden unexpected death during and after delivery. Most cases of uterine inversion occur due to mismanagement of the third stage of labour. We report a case of sudden death occurring post full-term vaginal delivery conducted by a traditional birth attendant (TBA) popularly known as dai. Autopsy revealed signs of haemorrhage and shock due to an inverted uterus. This emergency medical condition, though frequently fatal, can be treated if prompt action is taken by a trained and skilled obstetrician, pre

Cervical leiomyoma is a relatively uncommon type of uterine leiomyoma. Prolapse of a cervical leiomyoma with inversion of the cervix is an extremely rare phenomenon, especially in a non-puerperal woman. Only a handful of cases are reported in the English literature. The case discussed here is of a vaginal prolapse of a submucous cervical fibroid complicated by cervical inversion in a South Asian perimenopausal woman with multiple comorbidities who had defaulted medical follow-up during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Being one of the largest reported cervical fibroids to date is anot

BACKGROUND Reproductive health affects long-term quality of life, including in the elderly. Uterine inversion is common in postpartum women in developing countries and menopausal women are also at risk. CASE REPORT A 65-year-old menopausal woman had 3 children and a history of uterine tumors and curettage. She had received a different diagnosis - a cervical tumor - exactly 3 years ago. She was admitted to a referral hospital for lower abdominal pain, difficulty in defecating, and a mass in the genitals when straining, accompanied by blood clots. There was a 20×20 cm mass protruding from the va
