Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a characteristic isomorphic reaction, i.e. the Köbner reaction, induced by slight epidermal trauma. Chronic stress can induce lung injury. The spleen, as the largest peripheral immune organ, plays a crucial role in various lung diseases. Leptospirosis is a global zoonosis caused by pathogenic Leptospira. Neutrophils are key cells against bacterial pathogens but can also contribute to tissue damage. Because the information regarding the role of human neutrophils in leptospirosis is scant, we comparatively analysed the human neutrophil's response to saprophytic Leptospira biflexa serovar Patoc (Patoc) and the pathogenic Leptospira interrogans serovar Copenhageni (LIC). Both species triggered neutrophil responses involved in migration, including the upregulation of CD11b expression, adhesion to collagen, and the release of IL-8.

INTRODUCTION: [(99m)Tc]-technetium stannous colloid (TcSnC)-labeled white cells are used to image inflammation. Neutrophil labeling with TcSnC is probably phagocytic, but the phagocytic receptor involved is not known. We hypothesised that complement receptor 3 (CR3) plays a key role. Phagocytic labeling could theoretically result in neutrophil activation or priming, affecting the behaviour of labeled cells. In a murine model for neurocysticercosis (NCC), intracranial inoculation of the helminth parasite Mesocestoides corti induces multiple Toll-like receptors (TLRs), among which TLR2 is upregulated first and to a relatively high extent. BACKGROUND: Disseminated intravascular coagulation is an established complication of acute hemolytic transfusion reactions, particularly those involving the ABO red cell (RBC) antigen system.
