A series of new 7-ethyl-10-fluoro-20-O-(cinnamic acid ester)-camptothecin derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for cytotoxicity against four human tumor cell lines including HepG2 (hepatocellular carcinoma), SW480 (colorectal cancer), A2780 (ovarian cancer), and Hucct1 (intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma). The results of cytotoxic activities in vitro showed that most of the camptothecin derivatives harbor promising cytotoxic activity against tested tumor cell lines. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the in vivo efficacy of two cinnamic acid synthetic derivatives (allyl 3-[4-hydroxyphenyl]propanoate; HPP304, 1-naphthyl-methyl 3-[4-hydroxyphenyl]propanoate; HPP305) in high-cholesterol fed rats and compare their actions to that of cinnamic acid. An ingredient of a perfume which is a sensitizer may become hypoallergenic by interacting with other ingredients during the ageing process of the perfume. Thus, a patient with an exquisite allergic sensitivity to cinnamic aldehyde tolerates two perfumes containing cinnamic aldehyde without acquiring a dermatitis. There are several theories of why cinnamic aldehyde can become a non-sensitizer in a perfume mixture. Testing with a mature perfume may be much more significant than testing with individual ingredients.

Compounds with cinnamoyl moiety represent an alternative against mosquitos, considering their larvicidal activity. BACKGROUND: Cutaneous infections induced by Malassezia ovalis (Pityrosporum ovale) represent a therapeutic problem due to the high rate of recurrence.
OBJECTIVE: We studied feasible strategies to control the growth of M. ovalis, compatible with topical use in cosmetic formulations. Studies were performed on the effects of pH, ionic strength, cinnamic acid and related compounds on mycotic growth.
