WS79089B a highly specific endothelin converting enzyme (ECE) inhibitor has been isolated from the fermentation broth of Streptosporangium roseum No. 79089. WS79089B showed highly selective ECE inhibition activity with IC50 value of 0.14 microM and behaved as a competitive inhibitor of ECE, with Ki values of 8.9 x 10(-8) M. BACKGROUND: We examined the prevalence, prognosis, and effect of endothelin receptor antagonists on survival in end-stage kidney disease patients with idiopathic pre-capillary pulmonary hypertension.
METHODS: We investigated 1988 end-stage kidney disease patients in Toujinkai Hospital from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2014. Pulmonary hypertension was screened by symptoms (dyspnea, hypotension, or near syncope) and echocardiography, and diagnosed by computed tomography with enhancement, pulmonary flow scintigraphy, and right heart catheterization.

BACKGROUND: YC-1 (3-(5'-hydroxymethyl-2'furyl)-1-benzyl-indazole) is an allosteric activator of soluble guanylyl cyclase (sGC) and a vasodilator. This study describes a paradoxical action of YC-1 in isolated vessels of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) that appears to trigger an endothelium-dependent vasoconstrictor pathway present in vessels with endothelial dysfunction.
