Machine learning based prediction of platelet concentration from ROTEM measurements.

Viscoelastic testing is an established standard in modern coagulation medicine, reducing transfusion needs. However, it does not provide direct information on platelet count. Here, we present a machine learning approach to predict platelet count and to detect low platelet count based on standard rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) parameters. We analyzed 2,333 anonymised datasets collected from multiple centres between 2014 and 2023. Six machine learning methods (Regression, Gradient Boosting Methods, extreme Gradient Boosting, Random Forests, Neural Networks, and Stacked Ensemble Learning)

Lymph Node Invasion Prediction in Prostate Cancer: A Comparative Machine-Learning Study.

BACKGROUND: Accurate preoperative prediction of lymph node invasion (LNI) in prostate cancer is critical for guiding lymph node dissection. Current nomograms often fail to optimall balance the risks of missing metastatic cases and unnecessary dissections. Machine-learning models can provide improved predictive performance through more flexible modeling of complex clinical data. METHODS: The authors developed machine-learning models using clinicopathologic features to predict LNI. Due to a significant class imbalance between LNI-positive and LNI-negative cases, a synthetic minority oversamplin

Machine learning versus deep learning for screening ischemic stroke among asymptomatic population.

Ischemic stroke puts great health burden in public. However, the diagnosis is based on head CT or MRI scanning. We aim to develop classifier models to screen asymptomatic ischemic stroke based on clinical data without imaging. The subjects (age ≥ 20 years) were recruited into our study who attended health examination. We developed models to classify subjects with or without ischemic stroke using support vector machine (SVM), random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), and convolutional neural network (CNN). The candidate variables included sex, age, height, weight, blood pressure,

KAPI-LM: kernel-adaptive physics-informed learning machines for PDEs.

Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) have emerged as mesh-free approaches for solving partial differential equations, but their learned representations are often difficult to interpret. RBF-kernel-based formulations such as sparse, physics-based, and interpretable neural networks (SPINNs) make the geometry of the physical kernels explicit and show that kernels adapt coherently around dominant solution features, motivating the question of whether all kernel geometries need to remain independent. To investigate this question, we introduce kernel-adaptive physics-informed learning machines (K
