Background Scaphoid stress fractures are rare and typically present in young, elite male athletes. Due to the infrequency in which these injuries are encountered, the optimum management is not established. Case Description We present the case of a 20-year-old male gymnast with bilateral stress fractures of the scaphoid waist. Following conservative treatment, clinical and radiological signs of union were seen bilaterally. BACKGROUND: End-stage ankle arthritis is frequently treated with either tibiotalar or tibiotalocalcaneal (TTC) arthrodesis, but the inherent loss of accommodative motion increases mechanical load across the distal tibia. BACKGROUND: Stress fractures are classified as insufficiency and fatigue fractures. Insufficiency fractures occur when normal stresses are placed on bone with decreased mineralization and elastic resistance; whereas fatigue fractures occur when abnormal forces are applied to normal bone.

Pycnodysostosis is a rare dysplasia characterised by high bone density and susceptibility to long bone fractures caused by cathepsin K deficiency. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this work was to review the literature for the place of extensive rehabilitation for athletes with stress fractures.
METHOD: We searched the Medline and Embase databases using the keywords stress fracture, sports, rehabilitation, management and treatment. Only French and English articles were included, and articles about bone physiology, animal models, and spine and chest localisations were excluded. From 468 scientific articles, 62 were chosen because they corresponded to literary reviews or to therapeutic evaluations.
RESULTS: Treatment of stress fracture is justified

Stress fractures of the clavicle are rare. This is the report of one such fracture in a 10 year old female gymnast, who presented with a six week history of medial clavicular pain. Radiographs and a computed tomography scan showed an undisplaced fracture through the medial third of the clavicle extending inferiorly to the rhomboid fossa in the inferior aspect of the clavicle. Pathological fracture was excluded by magnetic resonance imaging. The patient was treated conservatively and was able to return to full training eight weeks later.

We report on a previously unreported site of rib stress fracture in an elite athlete. A 27 year old sweep rower, a National champion and an Olympic finalist, presented with a 3-day history of the left-side thoracic pain.
